I had my daughter at 25 weeks5 days. My experience with them saving her life was excellent. Besides when they have the band around my stomach to watch the heart. Physically was painful because they didn't care for me at all when my daughter was perfectly fine the whole time. My skin was peeling. During the NICU stay a nurse claim that I was never there enough. This was towards the middle and end of this day. The social worker told me to come here or more so I came to the NICU. 7 to 8 a.m. show up. At 10 p.m. I would either walk because I didn't make it to the last bus in time or get lucky and take the bus back to Ronald McDonald. They were obviously not writing me down. Then another nurse or probably the same nurse clean these desats and Bradys that I watch, real. When clearly it wasn't. Babies are going to obviously have moments were they really do have the SATs are Brady's but it's in no danger. Also the social worker we had was talking about a case to the DCF on a single father who did not want to bring his daughter home yet because of the hurricane and how his daughter is really really sick. I believed it because there was a hurricane at this time and it was near his hometown heading towards him. All I was doing was waiting for tickets to help me with food wise, which 30 tickets is not enough definitely in my situation. I lost so much money, even my car mileage is so high . we had to put our own money for gas. I still have to go to Gainesville for appointments that I can have over here but because she was born there they're not letting her go appts close to home. and I can't have all the appointments or some of the appointments are at least two appointments in the same day unless. I was supposed to go to Winnie Palmer for my appointments but the doctor OBGYN refuse to accept me to go on to another hospital so I didn't ask for all this chaos.
That's only some of the NICU stay problems there is another problem and that's the DCF staff maybe you guys need to work on hiring or retraining these people. Case is closed so I can talk about it. My daughter since she was born early micro.she decided one day while she was in a bouncer on a island to act active and try to get out which she was never like that because her arm was possibly already ripped. I don't know. all I know is she was crying always wanting attention wanting to be held but at this time she was sleeping whenever my grandma turned around for a few seconds to turn off the stove so the pot doesn't burn. At the time of the situation my daughter went forat the time of the situation my daughter went to Ocala first before shands. Ocala seemed to say that we abused our daughter and wanted to let themknow. so when we got over there, DCF.some lady showed up as try to ask questions but the doctors came in then the second time she left again then the third time they came in to go do x-rays and sure enough she disappears after 5 seconds apart from leaving the x-ray room to me leaving that x-ray room so their dad can stay behind. She called the DCF group. They claim that the my children's dad in my story were two different. Which is BS I just add on some things that I don't know I'm just guessing just like their dad. Their dad works so much and I'm childccare certified and I'm very proud of where we stand as great people. there was no proof of abuse there was no sign of a reason to take her away but they put my child into my grandma's care which I don't really care because I do trust her also. the investigator went on vacation the next day and did not tell us whenall this went down so we had to wait two weeks which almost he had to put in anotherweek for investigation.
When the DCF workers were talking to us at this time we did not have more than 24 hours of sleep and did not eat which we were starving and extremely tired so I could not focus. Also because of this going down we were treated bad by some of the nurses and doctors which I've never met these people before. we never saw the social worker either during this process and I even asked for...
Read moreOur experience at Shands has been the worst possible experience I ever have dealt with. My financeâs water broke at home and immediately headed to the hospital. After 20hrs of labor we had our baby boy and he was as healthy as can be, my fiancĂ© on the other hand was different story. While being in the hospital the accommodation was god awful. The nurse station never does anything correct. You hit the call button and ask for something 20mins go by when your nurse comes in they are clueless cause the info was never relayed to them. My fiancĂ© ended up having early stages of preclampsia which could be common after birth regarding high blood pressure. Instead of going to the main thing they use to treat this issue they instead tried different methods causing us to stay here more days. Each nurse told us something different regarding how they treat it and how long to expect to be here. With preclampsia they check your blood pressure often like every 3 hrs. My fiancĂ© had normal BP every single time except the last test at night. Mind you my fiancĂ© has really bad anxiety which I already told them before. She wonât think about it untill night time when the nurses say alright this is your last BP test to pass and then fails it. 15 mins later they check and itâs back normal . This has happened 3 days straight now where she has passed multiple tests for BP except 1. We are currently on Day 6 of being in the hospital and it took them 3 days to figure out what medicine she should be on which resulted in magnesium. With this process it is very important to get rest and to pee often which they monitor. Well of course no one monitored her or helped her get up to use the bathroom and still was very sleep deprived. Also had a nurse come in and do a normal blood test routine who came in with another nurse. You can tell she was somewhat inexperienced by the way she was getting things prepared. Mind you we have been here for 6 days now and have voiced our frustration several times to nurses and Drs. So what do they do? They get a inexperienced nurse to do some blood work and ends up pricking my fiancĂ© several times and had to get help from the other nurse. They seemed like they didnât care about pricking her as her arms is already blue from the tests they have done the last few days. We still have no idea If this current treatment will work and havenât been explained much. Iâve noticed with the staff if you donât ask specific questions about anything you take or procedure they wonât tell you much or be straight up with you. I highly do not recommend Shands at all and they do not accommodate their patients well. Hope this review helps some people because the frustration and countless hrs of sleep has not helped. All we wanted was to go home with our...
Read moreMy name is Theresa Baker, and on Thursday 16th, 2017, I arrived into the medical center for hallucinations and seizures from a prior medicine. When I went into the hospital, the nurses put a oxygen mask over my face and it seemed to stop the seizures at the time. I was left in the ER for 12 hours, from 3am to 3pm, and no one communicated with me until I called a patient advocate. The advocate came to the ER to see me and she made sure I received a room. When I came to the room, which the number was 1058, I talked to a nurse who took my information and the nurse asked for my medical history. Then, the nurse asked did I have MRSA in the past, and I responded "Yes, some years ago." The nurse assumed that I had MRSA and put me into quarantine, which it was proven that I didn't have it in 2015 and she failed to check my records. My daughter Jada was told not the leave the room. When I came back from Dialysis, my food was cold and they told me the I couldn't leave the room or I would contaminate the other patients. A supervisor called from upstairs and said that it was okay for me to heat up my food. Later, my daughter who was standing in the room with me went to go warm up her food, she was met with the same obstacle that I encountered. We were given a voucher to go to Subway, without even knowing that whether I have MRSA or not and still didn't allow us to leave the room because we were supposed to be in "quarantine". I asked could I speak to the charge nurse on duty. I asked her, "Why is my daughter not allowed to leave the room, but nurses and doctors walked in all day long without masks and gowns. Wouldn't they be contaminated?" After complaining, they took me off of quarantine, I believe that I my rights were violated because they didn't know that I had MRSA, neither did they check to see. In addition, I feel emotionally stressed and my child is traumatized about something that...
