Our family just finished a four week trip covering Kentucky, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We stayed in a number of Home2Suites and were completely satisfied with every one except this. We phoned several times to ensure the room would be feather free (allergies). We checked in after 5pm, so there was no excuse for the room not having been fully attended. Of course, there was a feather pillow, but that only showed a lack of diligence. What was worse was the complete inattention to normal Home2Suites services. We looked for dishes; nothing, until we called the desk and were told to check the dishwasher. There were a couple of plates and bowls, and two glasses - all wet. No way of knowing if they'd been rinsed and left in the dishwasher for later washing (the appliance wasn't warm though, so we assume it hadn't been used). No utensils. None. Not a single one. Went down to the desk and was told all they had were some plastic forks because the manager had ordered more silverware but it hadn't arrived yet. There were no knives. There were no spoons. The attitude of the front desk staff when we checked in, with the exception of one younger woman, was dismissive and condescending. A poor couple checking in ahead of us had called twice to specify one room, two beds. The system had it down as two rooms, and no one at the hotel had looked at the reservation when taking their call. Yes, you guessed it - the hotel insisted on charging them for two rooms. The next morning staff were even worse, again with the exception of one young man. The new manager was again dismissive and condescending. No point in asking why breakfast had been cleared early, or if we could grab something to take in the car (it closed at nine, we were there about 8 minutes before). What we could see of the breakfast being cleared was a pretty sad affair anyway; we got something on the road. The hotel is older, which would be fine if it didn't also feel slightly filthy around the edges. The outside isn't kept up, and most of the furniture looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The bathroom smelled awful. The elevators should be ADA-compliant, with a ring or buzzer each time a new floor is reached. In one elevator, the buzzer wasn't working at all. In the other, the tone was so loud and breaking up so badly that we thought it was the alarm going off at first. If this had been our first Home2Suites, we'd never stay in another. This hotel shouldn't be part of the Hilton chain....
Read moreThis is a really great hotel that we will be going back to again next time wee go to #ShandsHospital, This place has staff who truly care about how you feel during your stay, they will do pretty much anything they can to help accommodate you and your needs. They went above and beyond to help make this stay the most peaceful one possible , considering why we were there . Tia was fantastic she just is a ray of sunshine with a big smile for you every time you see her as well as everyone we came across . I can't remember their names now but I do remember that everyone from front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast is just great! Pet friendly , lots of little dogs there and even one larger one so our little Sammy was enjoying himself as well with his little dog friends. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!! At night , oh I wish I would have gotten a photo of it but they have some lovely fires outside on patios that are in blue glass all around it and it really makes a peaceful feeling and area to just sit, pray and wait on your loved one to have surgery or recover from it , that helped me while I was there waiting for my husband. Great hotel, the maintenance man was great too, nothing happened we just came across him. The breakfast is very good especially these days with all the new rules, but they are a very safe facility too , NO ONE is allowed without a mask on while in hotel and they also have a lot of areas to stop and sit at a table and do some work if you are waiting and don't want to wait in your room. It has a little store next door to grab snacks and a Dollar General across the street with a Chinese rest. next to DG. and you are so close to the Oncology part of the hospital you can see it from the property in the front of the Home2Suites in parking lot you can see the UF sign by the Oncology Surgical hospital so you are really close if you are there for #Shands and you are close to lots of things you are near enough to every kind of store you need within a mile or two. Really happy and wanted to also say that while I was going through a very serious issue Tia was right there with me helping me through everything, That to me says it all about that place. Clean, comfortable , although I would bring my own pillow the ones they have are really soft so if you have to have firm pillows, you will want...
Read moreBelow is an email I sent to the manager, Everado Montegnegro after we left the hotel, I received an automated response that he was away until 1/21. I waited until 1/23 to receive a response, but, so far, I have heard nothing.||On Jan. 16th, my husband and I stayed at Home 2 Suites in Gainesville, Fl. We had just stayed in a Home 2 Suites in Sanford, NC and were so impressed by everything there that we were happy to be staying at another Home 2 Suites. We are Diamond members and have stayed in about 6 different Hilton Brands.||Our check-in was fine. When we arrived at our room, we noticed the thermometer on the wall said, “err.” I clicked the temperature button and it appeared to work. After unpacking our clothes, I noticed that it said “err” once again. My husband called downstairs and the young man who was at the desk said he would be right up. When he came up, he told us to use the controls on the unit. It would have been helpful for him to just tell us that on the phone.||We then drove to a store to purchase dinner items; we had just driven about 9 hours and wanted a relaxing dinner in our suite. When I opened the silverware drawer, it contained 1 fork and 1 spoon. There were 2 dirty pieces of flatware in the dishwasher. We brought the spoon and fork to the front desk and the same young man told us there were supposed to be 5 forks, 5 knives and 5 spoons. He then told us he would bring the items to our room and he did so, quickly. Also, in one drawer were 3 bowl covers and no bowls. It did not seem that housekeeping was at all thorough when checking the kitchen area.||The parking area is behind the building, but the door to get into the building is VERY difficult to open. If it had only been me, I would not have been able to open the door.||When we were in Sanford, we were so impressed with the variety of breakfast choices, stainless flatware and china plates. Here we had paper plates and plastic flatware. But, the breakfast was well cooked and tasty.||Thank you for taking the time to read this; I wanted to contact you directly, instead of posting to...
