Ford Canyon/Veterans Park — Attraction in Gallup

One of the first memories I have is sitting in the grass while family members grill up our lunch for the afternoon gathering. Coming here now sparks those types of memories and make me smile all over again. I love that the giant metal shade was added for larger groups, the paint is kept up to par, the grass still grows (rather than go for turf I fully approve of sticking to this grass) which makes for fun rolling down the hill for me and my kids or a nice semi soft bed for small naps here and there if needed. The basketball and volleyball courts are usually busy along with the tennis court for those who are interested. I believe the lights turn off at 10:00pm every night so some late night playing can be done. Very nice to visit and spend some time just relaxing, just avoid the grass areas where its been...
