La Barraca Restaurant — Restaurant in Gallup

Service was no bueno. Took forever to get our order. Got the burrito special with sliced steak. Had to ask to add beans and rice because apparently they just come with meat, cheese and onion. The food is very bland with no flavor. The rice was slightly undercooked and hard. The "steak" turns out to be VERY thinly sliced pieces of steak which had no flavor and was grey, obviously frozen. The tamale was also disappointing with no flavor, it was not fresh. Also the chips are not cooked fresh. Instead they cooked in large batches and held in the back dark corner exposed to the air, not even a heat lamp. It takes one minute to cook fresh chips, not sure why they wouldn't do that. I payed12 dollars for a nasty wet burrito. Come here if you are starving, but if you are looking for quality...

After a long drive, you are looking forward to a nice, great tasting meal. This was a major disappointment, I ordered the special of the day. Steak, cheese enchilada, rice, beans and sopapilla. The only thing worth eating was the sopapilla with honey. The Spanish rice and beans were tasteless, must have been minute maid and canned beans. The sauce over the enchilada was way too spicy for me, and I eat spicy foods. The steak was tough and devoid of any redeeming qualities. My wife ordered fish tacos, she was hungry and only ate the tacos. Her rice and beans were moved around to give the impression she had eaten some. The prices were reasonable, but I would prefer to pay a little more and leave satisfied. All in all, we don't ever have to go back...

I stopped in for lunch, the waiter took my drink order , but brought it out with my meal, what I order was a combo Mexican plate #1 , as the waiter places my order on the table , the taco slid off the plate, the waiter didn't say , sorry or anything, he just grab the taco off the table and said that he'll get me another one, but when he return with the taco 🌮, it was the someone that he picked off the table, he just putted on a different plate and set it on the table. I do enjoy having a meal at this restaurant, the Mexican food is good and the place has a nice atmosphere . This incident will not deter me...
