Garfield Heights Branch — Attraction in Garfield Heights

Although I love the look, set up and options/features they offer (like a recording studio and video room). My 1st time being there to use the video recording room was not the best experience. My friend called a week in advance to reserve the room for us to use to record a gospel song. When she initially booked the room she explained that to whoever she spoke to and let them know it was gonna be her, myself, our music engineer and one other person. So when we got there after being in the room a few minutes we were told by one of the staff that only 1 person could be in the room at a time because of the covid restrictions. But per Governor Mike Dewine those bans have been lifted, plus how could we record something with one person?? I was singing and the other engineer/producer had to be on the computer and his instruments in order to record. So they finally let us have 2 people at a time. Then during the last 15 minutes of our session this other lady comes barging in (while we're in the middle of recording) and says very rudely "he can't be on the computer and has to leave!" Then she proceeded to tell us that the only person that can use the computer in that room and could only use the computer if they completed the orientation and technically there's supposed to be only 1 personin the room and how she's in charge. My friend who booked the room was the only one who had completed it. So we tried to explain to her that was never explained to her when she booked the room and that we already told them at least 2 people would need to be in the room at a time. We offered to finish up using our computer to hook up to the equipment, but she wasn't trying to hear it. The lady then started talking over my friend interrupting her and saying we had to leave. Things got a bit heated, we tried to explain how recording music works and also asking why wasn't the regular recording studio not back open. I apologized to her for my harsh reaction looking her directly in the eyes. She was purposely not giving me direct eye contact like she was dismissing me. I addressed her about it and said I felt disrespected and felt she owed us an apology too for barging in on 10. We ended up leaving. While in the parking lot 3 Garfield heights police vehicles pulled up. We told them everything was over and we were already leaving. Some people who witnessed the incident said what they did wasn't right and we all felt discriminated against because we were black. We're definitely gonna follow up with the branch manager about...

Wonderful hub for the community of Garfield Heights! Our older boys enjoy going here regularly. Our family takes advantage of their DVD rentals. The online ordering process is easy and fast. If you cant find what youre looking for, someone at the desk is always happy to help find it or order it from another branch. Small cafe with tables and vending machines if you just need somewhere work on your laptop or read. My only qualm which ive addressed with the board directly but have only seen temporary resolve is that the adult novels (ie romance novels) are in the front of the library. It disturbs me that they don't have their own section in the back of the library. I just think that is the more tasteful and respectable thing to do when children are prone to walk down the aisle all day. The staff is always smiling and good with the youngsters. A lot of neat programs for all ages...just ask...

Love our local library! Depending on when you go,there can be alot of kids but I dont think that's such a bad thing. The library is the perfect place for kids of all ages even if they're hanging out. They could be in worse places. My young children love to play in the childrens area. There is a vast variety of toys,activities and books available. I really like how the computers,printer, and catalog search computer is available for adults in the childrens area so you can keep an eye on your little ones. Theres a vast selection of books for adults too. As well as popular new release movies on DVD. The quiet rooms for studying are a nice addition too. I cant list them all but this library offers an abundant amount of classes and scheduled activities as well. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and ready to assist. Going to the library is our favorite part of the week. We love...
