Management – 0 Stars. HORRIBLE. I would LOVE to go to Hawaiian Falls tomorrow, but I can’t afford the gas!!! When my family moved away from the Hawaiian Falls we used to live beside, before this season even opened, we were not allowed to get a refund on our season passes. Now we hold 4 season passes we can’t use because we live too far away to make the drive!! DO NOT BUY SEASON PASSES!!! Come hell or high water, you won’t have a chance for a refund for ANY REASON. Furthermore, it only saves you maybe five bucks, so not worth the risk.
Safety – 2.5 Stars – 2017 After an intense lightning strike, park manager had to make a phone call to decide if she should tell people to get out of the water. What!? And – My 9 year old had to alert the lifeguards of a child who was unable to swim that had been swept into the deep. This child was screaming that she can’t swim as she bobbed up and down and the lifeguards were oblivious. 2016 - I have never seen such an effective safety system as this park has. The lifeguards are extremely well trained and very focused on safety at all times. I have seen multiple practice drills keeping them on their feet. They rotate from location to location preventing fatigue and loss of focus. They use a whistle system where one lifeguard whistles when a manager is needed and the others nearby point to the whistler while still watching their own areas. Managers are quick to respond most of the time.
Cleanliness – 5 Stars – Not always perfect, but always striving. Restrooms are being continuously monitored and refreshed. Trashcans are not overflowing and are conveniently located throughout park. Water is clean due to a highly effective filtration system.
Food – 3.5 Stars – Sharkey's is okay with brisket, pork, hot dogs, nachos, and pizza. Many days their menu is more limited. They don't serve fries or chicken. They serve Lays potato chips, but not with the double pizza choice. Their tea machine has been broken all summer and they don't provide lids or straws. Pizza is mediocre. Hot dogs are pretty good. Small drinks are given with Meal band. Why do some parks allow MiniMelts to be a Sweet Treat, but Garland doesn't? They claim MinMelts is an independent business, but that's inconsistent with the other parks. Garland does provide ice cream treats and cotton candy for the Sweet Treat band. Sometimes they'll allow funnel cakes and sometimes they don't. It depends on the day and worker. All food is...
Read moreI would give zero stars if it was an option. I personally feel like it should be shut down until they can get more staff. This is a water park & SAFETY should be your number 1 priority. Unfortunately it’s not! I have reported two different times to the “supervisors” who sit in the ac office all day instead of walking around checking on their team. 1. In the kiddie area kids who were unattended without an adult, were climbing up the little slides while others were going down. When several of the adults told the life guard she shrugged her shoulders like she didn’t care. I told the supervisor thinking they’d take care of it. Then here we are come back for another trip & kids are piled all on top of each other going down the turquoise twisting slide in the kiddie area , not being told when it’s ok for the next to go down or to not pile on each other. When we told the life guard she said oh well we are short staffed!😳 we tell the supervisor- they don’t even come out and say anything to the lifeguard -nothing. We go over to the deeper area where you can walk across the big floats. One life guard to the whole deep end, while families and a daycare is in there. If you don’t have staff then don’t open until you do! It’s the parents job to keep up with their little kids but it’s also yours to ensure you have lifeguards on staff that are paying attention to kids & not getting hurt or killed. Why is it that at over locations we see the dummy doll & they are constantly testing their skills to be on top of things & supervisors walking around and at this location nothing?! Silent drowning is serious and it’s going to be really sad one day if that happens while your life guards are looking around at the sky or at different locations then the pool doing an up...
Read moreThis is a fun little family-friendly water park. There’s so much that I love about this park, starting with the family-friendly environment, to the cost effective pricing when compared to other options in DFW. And to be honest, we have season passes to one of the bigger, more popular water parks in the metroplex, but I love coming here bc I can enjoy the park with peace of mind & feel like my kids are safe here. I love that they specifically state in their policy that it is a family friendly park and for that reason, thong-style swimwear isn’t allowed. As a mom, this is something that I really appreciate, bc I hate to have to be explaining to my kids why some women are totally happy walking around public spaces with their cheeks hanging out in front of children & families. (I tell them that they are a type of ppl that are not embarrassed or shy about exposing their own bodies and probably like letting everyone look at their hiney) but It gets old having to explain to them that although some people have no shame in exposing their body, in our family that type of behavior is unacceptable bc in my opinion it is a disrespect of self. Imagine your 10 y/o son asking you “why does that lady have her ‘ALLLL her butt’ hanging out”. 🤪😂 So coming here, I rest assured that I won’t have to explain the “why” behind other ppl’s choices/behavior in that regard. Another aspect that I enjoy about this park is that now that my kids are a little bit older (12) I can let them roam without worrying about them getting lost bc it’s not overwhelmingly big. It’s just the right place for them to go ride rides without me having to shadow right next to them the entire time! So yea, props to Hawaiian Waters for their family friendly atmosphere, reasonable pricing & fun...
