Porter Farms & Nursery Farm Market — Attraction in Garner

Wouldn't go back. It took a while to get someone to explain the u-pick rules. And once we did, the lady said full the bucket up and motioned with her hand to fill it up into a big mound. Well when we went to pay for what we picked, they charged us a $2 fee for OVERFILL. No where on there property do they state this fee nor was it ever mentioned to us in the rules. She just added it on without even telling us. She only told us the rule when we questioned the price at checkout. There were no berries spilling out of the bucket. I'm sorry, you are all ready picking the berries yourself at $18 and then to sneakily charge an overfill fee is ridiculous. I really like supporting local farms, but only when transparent, but they are dishonest.

Large fields full of strawberries! Reasonable prices with a ‘bucket’ to pick your own = $10. The lady at the counter didn’t really greet or explain to us how it worked with it being our first time, which was confusing and frustrating at first. We had to ask and she was short and deadpan with her response. It was nice they also sell some other fresh veggies and some cold drinks at the checkout stand. But it had rained a couple days prior to my visit, so a majority of the strawberries were beginning to rot or already had —and a lot of fruit flies surrounding them. Went 4/9 and the lady working at the ten ten rd farm in the evening was not friendly or understanding as I have a Special needs child and she way overcharged us !! Wasn’t understanding at all and kinda just shrugged the situation off and I was going to put strawberries back because I didn’t have money to buy more then one basket. This lady does not need to be in a customer service position.very expensive for what you get, strawberries are not that sweet, and they need a new employee. $18 for bucket when they...
