Here is a brief summary of the tale- The Chickasaw and Cherokees we're constantly at war with each other. During a moment of truce, the Chickasaw tribe was allowed to rest on Cherokee land. This is when Sautee, the son of the Chickasaw Chief’s meets and falls in love with Nacoochee, the daughter of the Cherokee Chief. Nacoochee's father, Chief Wahoo, instead of seeing this as a peace opportunity between the two tribes is blinded by hate and orders Sautee to be thrown off of the cliffs of Yonah Mountain. Nacoochee escapes her restraints and jumps after him. At the foot of the cliff, their fierce love allows them to embrace one last time and they perish...
