I’m playing the role of critic here. More than anything it is incredible this large swath of land was set aside for pups! That’s so special and is deeply appreciated.
It’s a hard one to rate because it’s wonderful for what it is! And also it’s not particularly special on a global dog park scale. With in the greater Phoenix area we’ve visited much smaller parks that had more “soul”? Personality?
The dogs and their human companions were all extremely friendly. 10/10.
It’s a good size with several fenced off areas within the dog park. There’s a clean, if not prison like, public restroom at the top of the hill by parking. A human children play area as well.
You will find picnic tables under cover throughout the park, including in the gated dog area.
There were many bins, complimentary bags, and even scooping tools about. This does not mean the walk from the car to the dog park was poo free. Quite to the contrary- the most dog poo I’ve seen in one area. Ever. Not in the fenced off portion however.
I can only speak for when we went, and I’m likely seeing things through the eyes of someone who’s been to some epic dog parks. It’s dry dry. Yeah I know, Arizona. But it feels void of any life. Visually underwhelming. The water feature is by far the best part!
The clever fire hydrant water fountain and seating area had nice trees and was the most aesthetically pleasing section of the park.
We aren’t from the area, only visiting. We drove a good distance from where we were staying to experience the “best dog park in Phoenix”. For my taste, it’s going to take a LOT more shade and plants to truly...
Read moreI want to tell you all about what happened yesterday 4/1/2024 around 5:15pm. I took my dog to Cosmo Park for a walk, and there, my dog was bitten by another dog owned by an elderly couple. The bite caused my dog's leg to twist so badly that it couldn't even lift it. Then, their dog started pulling on the ear of my dog, almost tearing it. Fortunately, I arrived just in time, and with the help of others, we managed to prevent any serious injury to my dog's ear. When I asked the couple for their names and phone number to help cover the vet bills, they refused to give any information and hurriedly left the scene. I had to call the police, but the couple had already fled. So, everyone, please remember their faces. I ended up spending $400 on medication and had to stay at the animal hospital for four hours, and now my dog is still in pain. I haven't gotten an X-ray for my dog yet, so I don't know how much more it will cost it could cost thousands. If you bring your dog here be careful. If you decide to bring your dog here, just be cautious because not all dogs are friendly. Some can be quite aggressive, similar to the one that attacked my dog.
Many people witnessed their dog attacking mine. I saw it with my own eyes, but the owner turned around and denied it, trying to twist the story and lie about what happened. I have a few witnesses who saw the attack, but the couple still altered the story, attempting to escape without offering any help with...
Read moreThis is definitely bigger than other dog parks that I've been to or seen . Most dog parks only have a small gated area that dogs can run in. This one actually has a lake. Now mind you the lake is not that big. In the pictures that others have taken it makes it look like a huge lake, but it actually only takes about 10 minutes or so to walk across the lake. (The layout only allows you to walk around about 2/3 of the lake on the concrete path...and then the other half is fenced off and that's where the dogs can play around) The water however did not look so clean from where I was standing and it looked like there was some dirty stuff floating around.
Anyways I thought it was cute how this park had dog paw prints built into the park. For example there was a paw print bridge across the lake and there were also paw prints on the lamp posts. They also have benches and picnic ramadas for people who want to wait outside the fenced dog area. The actual dog area has two parts. There's one part where smaller or more timid dogs can run and then there's a second part where dogs that are more friendly and open can play or go jump into the water... And that's another plus as most other dog parks don't have the water feature.
Lastly, I did like how they had spacious restrooms by the parking lot and they also had a tiny playground with a tire swing, a climbing structure, and a rope pyramid that you...
