My initial reaction to the 25+ reviews with ALL 5-Star ratings was: "Okay... the company must give customers some perk to leave a review and/or had family members leave positive reviews to bump the company to the top of Google search results." I can tell you that if you have these same thoughts, you're wrong.
My situation was this: My 7 year old laptop (HP Elitebook) finally had an issue I couldn't fix on my own. A significant Windows 10 update made my computer stuck on the welcome screen. After spending 3 or 4 days trying to troubleshoot it on my own as well as with the assistance of friends and co-workers within various parts of the I.T. field, I decided search for a computer repair shop. Alas - I stumbled upon Fix My Busted Computer. Steve attempted to troubleshoot the issue many different ways to avoid reinstalling Windows 7 and then updating to Windows 10 again. Steve would communicate with me every step of the way and detail the pricing for each situation. I ultimately decided to purchase a new laptop as resetting my HP would be the same as starting fresh on a new computer... except I would still be stuck with an archaic machine. Where Steve went above and beyond is the fact that he would give his opinion on every laptop I discussed either by phone or email. He even recommended one that was less expensive and better quality than the one I had planned to purchase (I was looking at a Dell Inspiron and he recommended the Acer Espire E15). I decided to go with the Acer. We transferred my files from my HP to my new Acer and I was given my hard drive from the HP as a backup. Steve even recycled my HP free of charge.
It took about one and a half weeks from the time I stepped foot in the door at Fix My Busted Computer, to assessing my laptop situation, deciding to purchase a new one, waiting for shipping, and transferring my files. This would have taken at least double the time at a big box store. Additionally, the personable and exceptional customer service provided by Steve would have been non-existent. I can say that I will be going back to Steve at Fix My Busted Computer with any future computer problems and recommending my family/friends to...
Read moreI can't praise Steve enough! After sleepkicking my laptop off my bed, my laptop wouldn't hold a charge. I brought it to Microcenter to get it looked at. Long story short, they held on to my laptop for about two weeks and finally informed me that I would need a new motherboard (worth more than the laptop). Although I am no tech wiz, Google and my gut told me to get a second opinion. And thank goodness! Not only did Steve listen to my laptop story over the phone, he told me to come in and he would take a look at it for me - no charge. Not only did he diagnose the problem quickly (which was that I needed a new a/c adaptor - SERIOUSLY microcenter) but he even found it for me on Amazon. He was incredibly personable and its obvious he loves his job. My experience FAR EXCEEDED my expectations. THIS is an establishment you can TRUST! I will hands down recommend him to anyone! I look forward to watching this local business prosper and will 100% go here again for any future...
Read moreWe brought our kids gaming PC that I built in to get diagnosed. An electrical surge occurred and fried some parts. When brought in the PC for diagnostics we were told it was the processor. (I assumed it was the whole PC). And even stated "just because the CPU light is on doesn't mean only the CPU is bad."
It ended up being a bad mother board, processor, and GPU, another shop would inform us.
My problem is that none of the 'bad parts were simply tested while at this location, but we were still charged a 'diagnostic fee.... Another processor was ordered but didn't arrive well over 2 weeks. I find it strange that there just wasn't a spare processor or test build at a location that fixes computers. Or maybe there was/is and he just didn't have the...
