We went to their 4th of July fireworks, there was 3000 fireworks set off tonight, it was AMAZING!!! You could tell how they orchestraed them all to music, and how much hard work by folks went into this awesome production. I can't begin to count the people that were in attendance, but not 1 bare spot was seen anywhere within blocks. The police help insure a safe departure for hopefully everyone, and you know my reviews..no sugar-coating, so.. Be prepared to be patient and kind to others!! They all want on the road to get out, and everyone should let at least 1 car or truck in at each intersection. It's a slow way outta there, but in my opinion so worth it. The restaurants downtown are super expensive!! A burger, no fries can run you $12.00!! Plan to eat before hitting Grand Haven's downtown district. It's all geared for tourists, there are tons of places to eat outside of downtown, and that's what we did last night. Hotels can easily run you $500.00 a night in the summer and fall, there is also a St.Park you can stay at, but reservations will be needed. There are plenty of other motels and hotels that are a cheaper off the strip, but again...reservations will be your key to finding a place to stay here. The musical fountain is always the best show, and runs nightly during the summer and is free, plan on bringing a chair or blanket to sit on, or you can sit in the bleachers if you want to come early. Happy 4th of July folks!!! Hope my review was helpful. God Bless...

The Grand Haven Musical Fountain is a truly beloved West Michigan tradition, and it's easy to see why it draws crowds. I
The highlight is undoubtedly the beautiful coordination of the water displays with the light and music. The various jets and formations dance and sway, rising and falling with the rhythm each song. The color coordination is particularly well done, transitioning smoothly and adding a dynamic visual layer to the experience. When the fountain really hits its stride, it's quite mesmerizing to watch the vibrant hues paint the water against the night sky.
The music choices are quite diverse, ranging from patriotic anthems and classic rock to pop hits and show tunes. While this variety means there's usually something for everyone, some song choices feel more impactful and lend themselves better to the fountain's choreography than others.
Sitting along the waterfront provides excellent viewing, and the communal atmosphere is part of the fun. It's a free show that delivers consistent enjoyment. All in all, its historical significance (it was once the largest in the world!) and charming execution make it a solid attraction. It's a definite must-do when visiting...
Read moreVery disappointed!! I went to watch the boat races and there was no provided seating so everyone was on a flat ground trying to see boats in the water. It was atrocious, if there had been just a few bleachers or something then I could see what was happening but instead all I could see were people and the boats that were on display waiting to race. I don't want to make a big fuss about this FREE event because it's cool to have free events but honestly I'd rather pay 5 dollars and have seating so that I can see what is happening. Sounds really awesome but didnt get to see anything. Even with seats right next to the other race contests still could not see the races...
