Porto Bello — Restaurant in Grand Haven

First experience here for a work gathering (7 people) on a Friday night with a 7:45 pm reservation. The atmosphere was pleasant with a 2 man band providing live entertainment. Did not appear to be overly busy. After being seated, it was approximately 15 minutes before our waitress introduced herself and even longer to receive our beverages. We ordered appetizers of calamari (rubbery), garlic aoli fries (delicious) and mozzarella sticks (average); these arrived fairly promptly. Our main courses were varied throughout our party but nothing stood out particularly. My dish appeared to have sat in or under some kind of heating element as the edges of the cream sauce of my Florentine Ravioli had started to congeal; the same for the Alouet Chicken of another's plate. She also stated it was not very warm while my food was fairly hot. I did enjoy the chicken, bacon and mushrooms that topped my ravioli. The gentleman to my right had to send the broccoli (a $2 upcharge with his Lobster & Crab Ravioli) back as it was not even warm enough to melt the butter that was on top. The Eggplant Parmesan was said to be delicious. While ordering our entrees, I also placed a additional drink order; this arrived well after the food. This was disappointing as I had wanted to enjoy it before the food arrived. The restrooms are a bit away from the dining area as they are shared with other businesses that occupy the building. The hardwood floors of the hallway to the restrooms had the most outstanding characteristic of the whole experience. Average food, slow service.....will think twice before...

DO NOT EAT HERE! This was honestly the worst restaurant experience of my life. The waitress was unfriendly, the food was horrific. $20 for the blandest chicken Alfredo I’ve ever tasted. The $23 pizza was soggy and practically inedible. I was with a group of 6. Everyone’s food was served but my pizza. The waitress said my pizza was dropped and a new one would be made. 30 minutes later everyone was finished eating and my pizza still wasn’t ready. The waitress didn’t bother to stop by to update me on my pizza or refill our drinks in the meantime. We ordered another pizza to go with a side of ranch (prior to tasting the pizza we ate at the restaurant) and that took forever as well and I had to remind them multiple times that we were still waiting on it. I spoke with the manager and they did take the first pizza off the bill and he said he’d deliver the pizza out in a box with ranch to go himself. Well he must have forgot because I had to track down the waitress to get the pizza to go. The whole meal should have been free. I regret just not walking out without paying at all. In all we were there for well over an hour and a half. Just sitting around without drinks just waiting to get out of there. Oh and they forgot the ranch! Honestly I can’t believe this place is in business. I don’t leave nasty reviews but I’ve never been treated...

I’m speechless. We expected an amazing experience tonight when we saw everyone piling into this restaurant tonight. They must all be first time patrons as no one will be returning to this place. No air conditioning on a 90 degree day started our experience. One hour after our order had been taken we asked the waitress (who bless her heart-had only been waitressing 2 weeks and had a 10 top, and 8 top, a 6 top, a 7 top and two 2 tops) if she knew how much longer it would be. She came back and said the manager had already taken 20% off of our meal and it shouldn’t be too much longer. When we were still waiting 15 minutes later we asked to see the manager who acted like our complaints and the complaints of the other tables were pretty commonplace and he said he would check. 5 minutes later our food came out. We had ordered lobster and crab ravioli and fish and chips. Two things that should be really fast. The ravioli looked like rubber that had been dumped out of a plastic pouch and microwaved and the sauce looked like Ragu out of a can and the fish looked like fish sticks from the freezer. We will never be fooled by a crowd of people outside of a restaurant again and we wish we would have checked reviews first. This should be a hard pass by anyone thinking about...
