Housatonic Flats Reserve — Attraction in Great Barrington

I appreciate the effort to open up more natural spaces and build more publicly accessible trails, but my experience here left me feeling a little disappointed. It’s a nice easy loop but most of it is more of a mowed path through a meadow than a proper trail. As others have mentioned, the combination of high grasses and wetlands means it’s full of mosquitoes (and ticks). For better options for short, easy walks, I recommend the trails behind the Lake Mansfield parking lot or...

Really nice development of Wetlands along the lower Houstonic River in Great Barrington.....a relatively easy looping path....easily navigated by most people and pets....a few spots with sitting benches.... The area seems to be in development and wonderful to go back to see the changes with the seasons.... No great views or vistas..... It's flat.... A good break in the day for 20-30 minutes of moderate exercise.... Minutes from downtown...

The Housatonic Flats Reserve is a nice flat walk for something to do when you're in the area. There is some history there and it's very interesting to read about it. The community came together and cleaned it up and made it into a place that everyone can enjoy. My wife and I had a nice walk enjoying Sunday afternoon. The walk is about a mile and a half and there are some placards sharing some of the Flora and Fauna add history...
