UPDATE: In response to the reply from the hotel, yes I do have a good memory. When you experience an awful situation, the details are hard to forget. First of all, your explanation does not make sense. My review was based on the fact that I reserved a specific room well in advance, and then it was not available on the day I was to arrive. No one from the hotel notified me that my room was "no longer available". It had nothing to do with first floor or shower/tub accessibility. I paid for the queen suite, and you tried to give me a double queen at the last minute. That is unacceptable. If you had compensated by giving us two rooms, instead of leaving us with no place to stay, I would have left a glowing review.
Original review: Major inconvenience! I reserved a queen suite well in advance. The day we were set to depart, I had packed the car and we were ready to pull out of the driveway. We had a 5 hour trip ahead of us (driving from Maryland). At the last minute, I had a question about whether or not to bring a shower seat fir my elderly mother. So I called the hotel to ask if their showers had them. It was then that they informed me that the room I had reserved was not available. They wanted to put me, my elderly mom, and my teenage son into a double queen, which I already know is not going to work for us. I always get a suite with a pull-out couch and a closed-off bedroom so that we can have peace and quiet away from my son's late-night gaming, and he wont have to whine about my snoring. In a niutshell, the hotel was not willing to give me something comparable, so I had to cancel my reservation. Thankfully, they refunded my money, but it was still an issue as far as where we were going to go for vacation. I had to search for an hour before I found something else, and it was in Vermont. So we were delayed in leaving for our vacation, and then we had to drive another hour. If the hotel would have called me as soon as they knew my room was not available, it would have at least saved me a lot of stress, though it would have still been inconvenient. If they had just given me something comparable, the whole ordeal would have been resolved, I doubt we will ever consider this hotel...

Read moreOne of the worst 'hotel' experiences ever! Rooms are extremely dated, full of mystery stains and our bathroom sink handles would come off. "Breakfast" is a few plastic wrapped muffins - coffee was constantly 'unavailable'. Forget about laundry - the house staff washes all the linens in the machines for the guests. If you can push in your quarters -the hopper was so full, one had to shake the machine to get the quarters in - the only option was HOT as that's what they use, along with bleach, to disinfect linens. The only nice thing going for the place is the outside/pool area. Make sure to bring lots of bug spray - they don't treat the lawn. I went swimming one morning and was scolded by the manager because, 'the inspector was coming to test the pH of the water and if they don't pass, they'll have to close the pool....' I thought to myself - if one swimmer in a pool sets off red flags, then something is definitely not right.
I would avoid this place at all costs and someone from Travelodge corporation should revoke their name from this establishment. Start saving now if you must, so you can stay in...
