Lantern House Motel — Hotel in Great Barrington

This motel has been completely renovated and is now operating as an Airbnb. The rooms are stylishly appointed and the King bed was very comfortable. Several amenities made for nice touches, including a wine fridge to keep our drinks cold (though a mini fridge with a freezer would have been even nicer since we had some ice packs we would've liked to use), a coffee machine and a bag of local ground coffee, and access to extra supplies should you need them (no proprietors on-site, all self-serve).||The downsides are smallish but worth mentioning. First, the walls are fairly thin and you can hear neighbors through them, as well as any that are sitting outside on the individual decks out back. Mostly muffled voices as opposed to whole conversations but still not ideal for sleeping. Interestingly they provide a small white noise machine presumably to help mitigate this exact issue but more soundproofing between walls would've been preferred. Second, there is no signage whatsoever indicating the entrance to the motel, nor any lighting for the two entrances to the driveway; we missed them multiple times during our stay becaise the area is quite dark at night and that was kind of annoying. ||Overall a good stay and only 20mins to Tanglewood. Probably pricey for what it is but better than alot of other options in the area this...

Pleasant owner. Pool was ok, though not enough chairs. Lawn in back of property was well kept. They did respond to my request to get an end room for one of our rooms.

Picnic table in back of property was really gross an old. Though the Gazebo in front was pleasant.

Room was horribly dated. Very horribly dated -- and cleanliness was as good as could be expected with the dowdy nature of the bed covers etc. Pillows old and smelly. Not too important to me, but TV very old. It did seem like they tried to clean well for Covid.

I'm not a prima donna, and this all would have been OK, but I rented two rooms from them via Hotels.com and they were over $250 each. This is an INSANE price! I actually thought that it would be a busy weekend and that bookings elsewhere were tight so we booked "what we could get." However, there were many openings in other places around town.

Buyer beware. I wouldn't go back unless I really had to.

I had a great stay. Please read the most recent reviews as it was completely renovated and maybe under a new owner and/or management.

1. King sized bed - very comfortable with 4 large pillows and a cute decorative Berkshires pillow; the linens were very soft and the blankets were very warm
2. 58" TV - Hulu was logged in with live channels available; very nice
3. Bathroom with modern, high end fixtures and ample lighting - shower pressure and temperature had no issues; towels were extremely soft and there were more than enough towels
4. Fridge with two water bottles and Smeg coffee maker - I had the water, but don't drink coffee so didn't use it, but perhaps some tea bags might be nice
5. Plenty of room to store clothes, hang coats, shirts, etc.
6. Nice little corner reading nook with a lamp and side table for a mug
7. Nice desk with a chair and hi speed wifi 8) dual purpose AC/heater with thermostat
