Can we give less than one star ?
It was our first time at this restaurant and sadly also our last.
Our arrival seemed unwelcome at this place. Though there were many empty tables, they made us wait on one to be cleaned. The young girl wiping the table down seemed to have done something wrong & was chastised in front of us after which she repeatedly apologized like a beaten puppy. Seems like some bullying was going on ??
Out waitress, who from photos at front I noticed on our way out might be an owner ( ?) seemed annoyed and bored. She was not friendly and took our very simple order and pushed the house french fries which she said were very good. The food came in a timely manner and then we were left without attention for a period of time. Waitress returned to check in and asked how everything was. My dining companion was satisfied with her meal, but my order was completely bungled. I replied that my falafal wrap would probably have been better had it actually been falafal. It was chicken.
I would have eaten it anyway, but the extremely charred (black) chicken was inedible and so I ended up pulling it all out and eating just the pita with a few pieces of lettuce & tomato and tzatziki. When I pointed this out to our waitress, she mumbled some bizarre response about how I had confused her by asking for a side of tzatziki. Somehow this meant to her that I wanted chicken in my falafal wrap. Bad form.
After this extemely unsatisfying exchange, our waitress disappeared. She came back a few minutes later and made an attempt at an apology for not giving me what I had ordered.
The plates were collected, mine piled high with burned chicken and the COMPLETELY inedible french fries the waitress highly recommended. They might have been good had they not been completely covered, and I mean COVERED in salt. Whoever is in the kitchen has lost all sense of taste and literally destroyed the meal. The pita itself was delicious, which was a good thing because that's all I was able to eat out of this mess of a meal.
No attempt was made to mitigate this complete screw up AND I was charged full price for my meal. I did not make a fuss about it and even tipped the terrible waitress/owner. Something odd is going on at this place.
I would say if you're looking for a good meal in the area, keep...
Read moreWe decided on eating near our hotel since we had not been to Great Barrington before. Aegean Breeze caught my eye because I was in the mood for Mediterranean food and the reviews seemed to be pretty positive about this place.
We were greeted right away and sat down in a back room with only two other people. Eventually the room and the restaurant became very busy and we were glad we sat down when we did.
We both started with the Avgolemono soup. It had a good taste, but there was not basically no rice in it. The portion size is good.
For the main courses, I had the Chicken Souvlaki pita wrap. I was very disappointed with the lack of flavor. Normally the chicken is bursting with flavor from being marinated in Greek spices, but this was very tasteless. Luckily the tzatziki sauce helped provide a little bit of flavor as I tried to finish the pita wrap. It was accompanied by "fresh cut" Greek fries. These were basically nothing more than potato chips, and once again they lacked flavor. At least they were crispy.
My friend decided to try the Santorini Style Casserole. He chose the Seafood Santorini, made up of shrimp, scallops, and mussels in a homemade tomato sauce. While you can see from the photo that the dish looks beautiful from a presentation standpoint, there was no flavor to it. The sauce was bland and seemed like it was out of a jar. They must have left out the garlic and onion because you couldn't find a hint of it anywhere. There also was way too much sauce and everything was drowning in it.
He did have the Mediterranean rice as a side which was not too bad. The pasta shells that he ordered came smothered in the same sauce as the casserole, and again seemed to smother the pasta.
This is probably more of a tourist trap type dining establishment since there are not many options nearby, and you need to eat. As for the service, our waitress was doing her best, however it seemed like they were very under staffed for how busy the restaurant was...
Read moreI rarely rate less than 3 stars, but I was disappointed in the Brunch they promote. We were so hungry, so we stopped at a place with a 2-foot tall Sunday Brunch sign--too bad we didn't realize beforehand that they're a Greek restaurant!
Eggs Benedict was awful! The measly tablespoon of hollandaise sauce had COLD spots and broke (separated, not emulsified)! I asked for more and got
