I arrived at Veterans Memorial Pool 45 minutes before closing time. I realized it was late in the day but I had two objectives. I needed to immerse myself in some cold water. Also, I had been waiting weeks to finally see my sweet friend Ashley along with her 3 precious kiddos. I was greeted properly with hugs, kisses, and questions. I've found sometimes that cooperation isn't such a horrible word. However, it doesn't fall into the passive category either; I secretly was wondering how that would play out. Truthfully, I don't know who started the water fight but it's not about blame, right? My memories of the rest of my fun time spent at the pool is hazy at best. Lots of dunking, water up the nose, and legs running underwater but getting no where (like those creepy dreams when you're frozen). I did hear my name echo through the tablespoon of water in my ear. In the summer time you can have an enjoyable time at the large outdoor poor that has a water slide that the children can enjoy...If you are an exercise type of person they also have an large outdoor track that is used for running, skating, biking, walking, you will even find people pushing stroller's with young children in them as they walk the track... If you are there in the evening you could be lucky enough to catch one of the baseball teams that play ball there on one of the two ball fields that are use often during the youth baseball season.

Read moreThis is a fun place to go in the evenings before dusk. There are multiple ball fields, two pavilions, and a small basketball court. There is also a large pool area in the summer months. The best part of the park is that there is a walking track that goes around the entire park, including a path that goes to the five star trail. The 5 star trail goes past WCCC, and into the Armburst area. It is a great bike riding trail to try in the area. There is also a climbing playground for elementary aged children. If you have time, you can get a great view of downtown Greensburg by walking the five star trail to the bridge over East Pittsburgh Street.
