UPDATE: Both Jessica and Lisa contacted me (within just a couple of days after) to personally apologize for the mixup. They were incredibly gracious and empathetic and it really alleviated my frustration. They take great pride in their establishment and I'm thankful to have heard from them. I want to preface this by saying that all the massages I've had here have been wonderful! BUT my experience today (3rd time here) altered my overall opinion, which makes me sad. During my previous visit, I asked the receptionist how to book the private sauna (not the public one downstairs). She said to call and specifically ask for time in there, it's in the couples massage room. Perfect! My husband loves saunas and I wanted to treat him to a spa day anyway. So i called 3 weeks in advance and asked for a couple's massage and that we also wanted some time in the sauna in that room. They said yes, got us booked, and as I was ending the call I asked again, just to clarify, "and then we'll save some time in the sauna that's in that room, right?" I felt silly, but i was adamant about making sure we could both use the same private sauna together and not the gendered public ones off the gym locker rooms. Whoever I talked to on the phone confirmed. We were excited. I've been looking around the DTC, Centennial, and Parker area for a spa with a sauna. It's hard to find a place that has it all (spa, massages, and sauna). We love the Beer Spa downtown, but no formal massages beyond the massage chairs. Like I said at the top, I've come before and had a massage by myself and they've been amazing. I wanted to treat my husband to a day out. The couple's massage was great. At the end they told us to "take our time getting up" but they had back to back appts so they needed to get the room cleaned up. I told them we had time in the sauna. They said no. So i went to go talk to the receptionist up front. I knew we weren't gonna have time in the sauna today, but I wanted to ask how could I have been better and more clear about booking the private sauna? I repeated my phone call interaction with her. She seemed very unsure and while she was apologetic, it didn't seem super genuine. The thing is, I chose this spa specifically because it has everything we want. I don't want to stop going here, but I felt dismissed. Also, why should our asks be overlooked just because the receptionist i talked to on the phone didn't schedule our appt correctly? We're paying customers just like the people waiting for the room after us. She didn't say anything after we had changed and were checking out. No other last minute apology or sign of empathy. No offer to take off $10 on our next visit or something like that. I'm not looking for a discount, but I'm frustrated that I did everything I could to be clear and it didn't seem like anyone there even cared about their mistake. In the grand scheme of things, I get that what I'm upset about is trivial, BUT we are paying customers, I have recommended this place to friends, family, and coworkers, and my husband and we really only treat ourselves to spa days a few times a year. So yeah,...
Read moreI think my experience is tainted due to my masseuse.
I was really excited when I walked in, the front desk women were so pleasent and the facility smelled so relxaing of candles and various essential oils. After check in, they lead me back to the locker room and showed me around telling me to make myself at home.
While I was in the changing room, a staff member walked in and tossed a brown towel in the sink; the only sink in the bathroom. Being my type A self, I looked around the sink seeing mouth wash, soaps, etc and started thinking how unsanitary that was for her to do that and in my mind said "I hope she doesn't use that one someone's skin."
Moments later I find that very woman is my masseuse and instantly feel like "this likely wont be good due to the lack of sanitary effort put into that towel situation."
During the massage, I wouldn't call it relaxing. The movements were fairly speratic and frantic feeling; including a lot of stretch type movements with my neck and arms and taping on my face. The foot massage I get better at a nail salon. No massaging of my buttocks within this prenatal massage which I despretly needed due to the all of the moving/pressure in my hips. The leg portion was essentially just rubbing in the oil. While on my back there was minimal massing done - a little bit on the neck, tapping on my face, rapid/frantic movements for a "head massage", moving my arms around (up, down, circles, back and forth), rubbing the oil into my legs.
Again, I don't mean these stars for the overall facility and I'm sure other staff is wonderful. I am hesitant to try it again knowing training or staffing allows this at a higher end faciltity but who knows, maybe I'll be back.

Read moreI was in town for the Solheim Cup this past week, walking up and down hills all day and getting sunburned. I had an extra day here, so I grabbed a coupon at the hotel and called, and called, and called. I looked them up online and they had horrible reviews. I saw another spa on the list and called, and they returned my call( within 30 minutes) and fit me in with the two services that I wanted: massage and facial. Ethereal is located in a sports complex, however, once you enter their door....a totally different vibe. A wonderful, friendly welcome, and very nice robes, a luxurious changing area with lockers (that lock) so you are not burdened with keeping track of all of your things. My massage was so wonderful. Jenna was seasoned and listened to my needs and put me at ease right away, and gave a superb massage. My facial was one of the best facials that I have had. Mary took the time to really look and feel my skin to recommend the correct facial for my needs. She was so skilled, it was like a ballet being performed on my face. I am not a spa rookie, I have worked in the spa environment before and these ladies rank well above most that I have experienced. I feel lucky to have happened upon them while researching another spa (which left me a phone message, finally, while I was getting my services done at Ethereal!). I took a handful of brochures to give to the hotel concierge so they can help make someone's day when asked for a referral. They threw the other spa coupons away! .......My muscles and...
