If I could give this school 0 stars, I would. And if I can give any nursing advice: apply and go elsewhere, I would know, as I graduated from here. Here are some compelling reasons to look elsewhere: NCLEX pass rates for this school are dire. At 67% for one recent cohort (yikes). This school is also very very expensive, Platt is only private and nationally accredited (which means your credits will not transfer after you have started, look for REGIONAL accreditation schools like CU, Regis etc. Regional accreditation is the gold standard and transfers easily, national credits do not! Please Google and investigate the rate of student loans and the ability to repay them. It's bad, ranked top ten worst in the country!
This school was ok when Holly was Dean. The new Dean has a joke of a PhD, can't do an ABG on the spot, and did not practice in the real nursing world for a reasonable period to be Dean of a nursing school. That's when NCLEX rates plummeted, because of her. When some excellent and expert nursing teachers disagreed about appointing Jama to Dean, those teachers were fired. When Jama was my teacher, the answer key she graded everyone with was wrong, I was convinced of a correct answer (which we looked up together And I was correct! A math question which was clearly the right answer) and when I went in to talk to her about it to get credit back -she gave me full credit back and then told me not to tell my other classmates because she wasn't going to give everyone else credit back! (I told everyone of course). As you might have guessed, this school is highly political and many many students have to take classes over again, which fuels the idea that they don't care about you, you're just a number...
Read moreKeep away from this college if you really want to get a career, I will file a complaint about Platt College for failing to meet accreditation standards and adequately prepare students for standardized exams. I have personally experienced the negative effects of the school's shortcomings in these areas.
Firstly, I believe that Platt College does not follow any of the accreditations required by the accreditation agencies. The school's way of teaching and preparation for standardized exams like the ATI is insufficient and does not provide students with the necessary knowledge to pass such exams.
I have reviewed the accreditation standards that Platt College is supposed to meet and have found that they fall short in several areas. For example, the school does not adequately prepare students to pass the ATI exam, and many students have struggled to pass this exam and feel unprepared for the nursing field because the professors do not review during class the content that will be in the exam.
I believe that Platt College should be held accountable for their failure to meet accreditation standards and provide students with adequate preparation for standardized exams. Also this is a for profit school so it makes sense for them to keep students in a very low chance of succeeding that way they keep...
Read moreThis school literally cares only about money. I did very well academically but that had nothing to do with the professors. It was sink or swim and when students didn’t do well there was very little done to help them, two students got kicked out of the program right before graduation per the policy of not being able to fail more than two classes. So they were left with so much debt and no job to pay it off. You teach yourself everything which wasn’t a problem for me but for others it seemed like a 100k tuition should teach them something. They had my life in their hands for three years. It’s ironic that a job based on compassion education and understanding platt had...
