Michaels Furniture
We had a desk and dresser delivered. When purchasing these products the sales person told me I would have them delivered in two weeks. It would be “white glove” treatment. Unboxed and take away all the debris from the packaging and placed right where we want it. Three weeks later the items were delivered. The two men who came didn’t believe the dresser would make it up the stairs. There was a very long exchange about it not fitting but we continued to ask them to try. Finally, they tried and it fit. They were frustrated and complained about how heavy it was. Once they left, I went to check on the dresser and two drawers will not open. They are locked shut due to a broken mechanism. When I called, I spoke to the sales person who sold me the dresser. I explained that it took them a long time because they refused to measure and wouldn’t try to get it upstairs and that they complained about moving furniture when they are furniture movers. I told him about the drawers. He said, “Mexicans don’t want to work hard and they are lazy. It can be hard to find anyone else who will work so that is who we have”. I said, “What did you just say to me?” He said that “Mexicans just don’t want to do the work” and I said that I called to complain about the dresser and the people who delivered it and now “I have to defend the entire Mexican culture? Do you really believe that all Mexican people are lazy and do not want to work? Who cleans your house and serves you your food? What food do you eat?” He then said he didn’t say that. And said, “Latinos…” I stopped him and asked him to “not talk to me anymore about his ideas about Mexican people and to discuss the dresser only-“and take a class”. He then tried recovering but we moved on. The drawers are broken and it will be another week until they have a new one to deliver. But he stated that there is no such thing as “white glove” delivery from them and he never said that, “only Wayfair does that”. (They SO do not). Then, after a bit he agreed to comp the delivery charge but no discount on the dresser. “Ma’am, this is furniture not apples and peaches! We can’t give a discount on anything!” A bit more back and forth before we hung up. Apples and peaches can be discounted because of the brown labor that picks them for our country? Is that the implication? You promise one thing and (literally) delivered another. This is my fourth purchase at Michael’s and,...
Read moreSo disappointing to shop here. We have spent approx 15k here over the last 2 years. The previous manager was amazing but he recently retired. We went into the store expecting to drop another 6k on sofas and family room furniture.
My wife and I walked in and went right to the front desk as we knew what we wanted to order having purchased other stanton couches and we had already completed most of the buying process online. 5 sales staff were behind the counter, 3 were talking to each other and the manager was talking to another employee. No one greeted us for 90 seconds. My wife and I started to walk away and only then were we acknowledged.
It was at this point I was introduced to a 6th employee that would be our associate. I introduced us to her and stated that we spoke on the phone and we were in to order the product we had discussed. She was not warm and not friendly either. We initially felt like we were an inconvenience.
We were led to the couch and we were discussing fabric options. We wanted performance fabric and wanted to see what options were available. (performance fabric is much more stain resistant and cleans so much easier than the standard or premium fabrics that are available for the couch and costs several hundred more per sofa)
When she gave us the final price, it was more than $1000 more than we were expecting based on previous shopping we had done with the old manager Peter.
We were feeling frustrated so we left.
We shopped around online knowing what model we liked and called 6 other Stanton retailers and Michael’s ended up being the 2nd most expensive store for identical product.
What made it even worse was the fabric we were looking at was not a “performance” fabric as we were led to believe. So they were more expensive for a lesser quality fabric. We bought elsewhere and had an amazing experience. Feel free to read my other reviews as I left one for the...
Read moreI would like to say that we really liked the Ashley leather sectional we purchased but the customer service was a little off. In regards to the Las Vegas promotion we feel it's more of a scam to bring people to their store. The 1st day we visited the store the sales associate was very friendly and nice but don't mention the Ashley Furniture store to them or they will go off on a negative rant which made us leave the 1st visit. After shopping around my husband couldn't take his mind off the electric Ashley leather sectional they had and a free trip to Vegas which would be a bonus. We decided to return the next day and purchase the sectional. During the sale, we financed w/ 0 % interest for 24 months instead of 6 month promotion they had going on. They gave us an option to add the extended interest to our bill which we did. In addition to this we ask if the $150 dollar coupon in the paper they advertised for spending over $2000.00 dollars amount would be accepted on a $3099.00 sectional. They said it wouldn't be an issue so we purchased the option to buy the extended warranty for $300+ more with the savings. Upon completion of the sale we walked out happy then walked right back because we didn't get the Vegas trip that was supposed to go with the sale on that product. The sale associate stated it did not apply since we got a discount. I wasn't going to sit around and argue with the lady about the promotional deal they advertised on that specific sectional. Sometimes when they say something is to good to be true then stick with your 1st instinct cause it...
