Hamden Super Market & Halal Meat — Attraction in Hamden

Didn't want to write a bad review since the owners/workers were nice and polite, but the quality of meat and packing of it was terrible. I wish I had checked the bag of ground beef they gave me before bringing it home - I just trusted they knew what they were doing, but it was at least 50% fat and smelled bad. The chicken also smelled bad. The meat wasn't labeled with weight (although he weighed it in front of me) and was put in a black plastic bag instead of properly packaged. The chicken that was already frozen also wasn't packaged with the necessary packet between the chicken and Styrofoam. I had to wash all the meat again, but I'm concerned about what temperature they stored it at and am wondering how old the meat they gave me was. We called the manager to let them know, and he said to bring a picture of the fat in the meat and he would compensate us for it, so we will see but I wouldn't buy meat from them again.

Update, in response to owner's response 9/2/2025: this is for sure your store, there is no other place this could be from. When we returned with the bag of the meat, the manager gave us a refund for the ground meat. Unfortunately, I also had to throw out all the chicken I bought. Meat is clearly not stored...

Great quality store for Halal meats and Bangladeshi, Indian spices and groceries. It's a regular go to place for us nowadays. Store owner and staffs are really polite...
