Akatsuki — Restaurant in Hamden

The food was delicious. Ordered the Momo (chicken thigh), Gyu (Beef), Butabara (pork belly), Gyoza, Karaage chicken, Scallion pancake, and Yaki soba noodles (chicken). Surprised that I liked all of it, especially the scallion pancakes and yaki soba noodles. The portions were appropriate for the price. Not too much not too little. It’s a normal portion. It was perfect. Definitely worth the waiting for the amazing atmosphere and service alone. They’re incredibly nice and polite. I suck at remembering my order and I wrote it out in my notes app…definitely made ordering so much quicker and easier on both sides I would’ve stuttered the whole thing. 😅

Please be patient, it is so so worth it. Parking was easy, it is a smaller parking lot in the sense of spaces. Though no issues getting in and out. They have pictures for the majority of the items on the menu. The inside of the cute restaurant is half nostalgic animes on one wall and beautiful japanese art work on the other. It gives you a taste of japan with the geekiness you would hope for. You can tell that they put a lot of thought into the food and design of the atmosphere that they wanted to create.

I just visited for the first time today with a friend of mine who’s a regular. This is honestly the best Japanese food I have ever had in my entire life. The prices are unbelievably affordable as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed every single item I ordered and if anyone rates the food anything but a 5/5 they are simply lying or speaking out of personal preference.

The establishment is extremely well kept but I think they’re going to need an upgrade soon with how good the food is! Make sure to make a reservation before going as well as it might be super busy (just shows how good their food is).

You can tell that the people who work there take pride in what they do. Everything was presented very well and it was overall a wonderful expirience.

The service is incredible. The owner is super friendly and approachable and even lifted my spirits when interacting with him.

BYOB! Do I need to say anything more? xD This place is a must visit for the taste, aesthetics and the service. Food doesn't take long to arrive and is affordable too. Quantity is justified. We ordered: Skewers: Momo, Sasami and Ebi Shrimp Takoyaki Shrimp Tempura Udon Curry Chicken Katsu Don Matcha Ice Cream Since it was my first time here and I was too hesitant to go all out but I should've! Everything we tried was 5/5. Try the Matcha Ice cream if you like red bean paste, you can also ask them not to add it but I'd recommend you to try with the bean paste.
