I personally don't like to write a bad review; however, I am doing this because this school is too horrible. I was an LPN student with this school, and I will start with my clinical side. Mrs. Sibilio was one of my temporary clinical teachers. She was only my temporary teacher for 3 days, but she made my life miserable. As my first clinical term, my permanent clinical teacher always put 2 students in a team to take care of a patient. Unfortunately, on that day, Mrs. Sibilio put me to take care of a completely disabled patient by myself. This is a big challenge for me and therefore, I made a mistake. Student making a mistake is a kind of normal thing because no student is perfect and never makes a mistake. However, just because of this mistake, Mrs. Sibilio not only emailed my permanent clinical teacher to complain about me, but also CC whole leadership in Bridgeport and Hamden campus. Mrs. Sibilio was only my clinical teacher for 3 days and I don't know why she hates me this badly? I saw some of my classmates also made mistakes, but she always corrected them in a very nice manner. Not only this, Mrs. Sibilio also slandered me by telling my classmates something I never ever did before and her purpose is to make my classmate hate me. Therefore, one of my classmates embarrassed me in front of the whole class. Mrs. Sibilio is also a psychologist. Her job is to make people feel better, but she completely stressed me out during those 3 days. So, either as a nursing teacher or psychologist, she is very unprofessional. Mrs. Rodriguez, Jessca was my permanent clinical teacher. She treated me a little bit better than Mrs. Sibilio, but her leadership skill is very poor. One day she embarrassed me in front of the whole class by saying I faked my arrival time on a signed sheet, basically calling me a liar. I said I didn't and then she was very rude to me by saying "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING FROM YOU". Later on, I pulled her aside and asked her to show me any evidence that I faked on the signed sheet. Then, after around 1 hour, she apologized to me, but only to me, not in front of the whole class. From the very beginning, she should just pull me aside instead of embarrassing me in front of the whole class. If she had embarrassed me in front of the whole class, why didn't she apologize to me in front of the whole class. This is why some of my classmates never respect me because they still think I am a liar. Mrs. Rodriguez also did exactly the same thing as Mrs. Sibilio by slandering me and making my classmates hate me. It is another nightmare on my classroom side. SOME of my classmates are very rude and disrespectful. They fight & disrespect teachers, talk loudly and play music during class when teachers are teaching, talk over teachers, and turn my classroom completely to a club. Sometimes, I don't even get a quiet place even during exams. These disrespected students created such a horrible & toxic study environment for me and other good students. I was in college 20 years ago, and I never saw this kind of disrespectful students from my previous college. Also, these rude and disrespectful students will definitely be kicked out by security from my previous college, unfortunately, THIS SCHOOL DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A SECURITY. School leadership also doesn't even care at all because all they care about is MONEY, MONEY & MONEY. I am not the only victim, I heard some of the good students from my class had already failed out due to this horrible & toxic study environment. Unfortunately, this horrible & toxic study environment only negatively affects good students, not those rude & disrespectful students. The world is never fair. In the end, I just want to say that people's college life maybe only once in life and DON'T LET THIS SCHOOL TO RUIN YOUR...
Read moreI enrolled in the HVAC/R program at Porter and Chester, Hamden, in January 2020, and graduated January 2021. This was a wild year because of the pandemic and a lot of unknowns were thrown at not only us students, but the trade instructors and campus staff as well. Everyone tried their best to communicate with the resources they were given. They tried their best to keep us students engaged, which is admirable given the circumstances they were dealt. The trade instructors and the office staff made attending this school really special. They were all so kind and knowledgeable. Attending this school was more like a job than school, which I really enjoyed because it gave me the opportunity to really practice my outward demeanor in the trade setting. Especially having had several different instructors through the year (normally it would have been one, but the pandemic tossed a wrench into everyone’s plans). It worked out for the best though because it allowed me to see the variation of personalities and work ethics in the HVAC/R trade. There were a lot of ups and downs due to the pandemic, but they were made the best of and I wouldn’t trade my year of school with these wonderful people for the world. Even now that I have graduated and am on the prowl for a job, they are still helping me. Keeping their eyes out for companies hiring apprentices (which is a bit slow because the trade is about to fall into its down period before the summer), helping me establish a powerful resume, teaching us valuable interview skills and helping break the ice with some companies are just some of the few things they help with. All in all it has been a fun (if not a bit challenging) experience. You get out of this program what you put in. If you work hard, show up on time in your uniform with your tools and do the work, you...
Read moreI attended the HVAC program thru the VA and I have been nothing but disappointed in the institution. Especially with how long the va takes to get you settled and enrolled, I feel like I burned months of my life waiting to get education just for the school to let me down. My instructor Karl (with a k) was a cool dude but the other aspects of the school were subpar. Context: • I was given the wrong time to attend classes (full time residential 4pm instead of 6pm) and wasn’t made aware until my 3rd week. By then I was somewhat behind due to missing labs and lectures. •1 instructor for 50+ students • I was put into a classroom of 50+ students whom some of which were already well ahead in the program. • The materials/tools provided to us were dated and not readily available for the # of students in the class. For a 32-34k tuition that’s not acceptable. Other students stopped showing up because the curriculum overall is a mess.
In the end, I’m more so mad at myself for not doing my due diligence in researching other schools in the area like Entech and even Lincoln Tech. I expressed this all to my va representative and Thank God I don’t have to go thru the whole process again. I would advise the school to improve the overall quality and organization of education. Was allowed to keep the Chromebook tho so I guess that...
