Sono Bana is the absolute best sushi restaurant in Hamden. If you think Sushi Palace or Kumo is good, don't come here; your pallet likely isn't refined enough to actually appreciate the highly perfected rice nor the fantastically fresh fish. You noobs who wrote poor reviews should have stayed home; this place is too good for you! If you like rolls then I highly recommend the Isobe Maki, Crunch Roll, Rainbow or Rainbow Special Rolls, Tripple Roll, or Sakura Maki. If you prefer sushi (rice with fish laid across the top) then take advantage of the Sushi Set Special (blue piece of paper handed to you in the wooden basket with your oshibori): 10 pieces of sushi and 1 special roll, all of which are fantastic - I have tried them all - or just do it big and get a boat! This is not an all-you-can eat restaurant so bring some money and enjoy yourself. Order in abundance, be a frequent customer, and tip your servers nicely as they work hard to ensure you enjoy your experience here. Tip the chefs as they are consistent and constantly refining their artful craft. Do not bash this place if you only ordered a California Roll and found it to be disappointing - CALIFORNIA ROLLS ARE NOT REAL SUSHI AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR ORDERING THIS ROLL. If you're afraid to eat raw fish, don't come here; although their cooked dinner menu is also extraordinary, you should really get some sashimi, sushi and tons of sake. The restaurant is busiest Thursday through Saturday between 6 and 8 o'clock, however it is always worth the wait. You know the food must be good if the Yalies are daring to venture down Dixwell to eat here as they rarely leave their natural secluded fantasy-world...

Worked here during my senior year in high school and I learned so much. during my recent visit I really enjoyed the aromas of the food for the first time ever I dined so well and it was by FAR the best restaurant in the area, I loved it!! everything was always fresh, owner and his family always treated me and everyone with respect. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

Trabajé aquí durante mi último año en la escuela secundaria y aprendí mucho. durante mi visita reciente, realmente disfruté los aromas de la comida por primera vez, cené muy bien y fue, con mucho, el mejor restaurante de la zona, ¡me encantó! todo estaba siempre fresco, el dueño y su familia siempre nos trataron a mí y a todos con respeto. Ho lavorato qui durante il mio ultimo anno al liceo e ho imparato tanto. durante la mia recente visita mi sono davvero piaciuti gli aromi del cibo per la prima volta in assoluto che ho cenato così bene ed è stato da lontano il miglior ristorante della zona, l'ho adorato !! tutto era sempre fresco, il proprietario e la sua famiglia hanno sempre trattato me e tutti con rispetto. I only order takeout. Their portion sizes aren't great esp their salads. They are usually late when delivering. I've had them forget part of my order twice. When I called I was accused of eating the roll I had gotten when I did not. Another time they were so late what was hot was cool and the cold items were warm. Fortunately I don't eat fish. But with this said. I love all of their veggie rolls, they have a great variety despite them being on the small side. Unfortunately I usually regret ordering bc of how late or the mistakes they make. Maybe it's a different story when you go in the restaurant. Taste, freshness and quality I'd recommend but be sure to check your order carefully...
