I'm sorry but I couldn't find an email to file a complaint. I've been a customer at TruFit for three years, I've written stories about this gym for the paper, I'm a Gulf War vet with PTSD and I was hitting the rallies Saturday for something I believe in, and I did NOT deserve what happened to me tonight. I have never given anyone here any trouble.
HELP!!! This week even got more screwed up. Incident Report: June 18, 2025 10:15 p.m. At about 8:30 p.m. I was enjoying my workout at Trufit in Harlingen when a young woman whom I had never seen before glared at me with a hateful stare and pointed at a chair and ordered âSit down.â I was rather perplexed and annoyed at being spoken to this way, especially someone I had never met and was in fact young enough to be my granddaughter. She went to her desk and returned with her phone and was glaring at me in a way I found intimidating and she started barking accusations at me that I had been taking pictures in the gym which was against policy and against privacy and then she said she was going to call the police and they were going to get a warrant for my phone and they were going to go through my phone and even if the pictures had been deleted they would find them. She said all this very quickly rapid fire at me and I felt intimidated and it even seemed she was deliberately trying to antagonize me. I kept telling her I had not been taking pictures and she just kept glaring hatefully at me and I was intimidated and even felt a bit violated at being so harshly accused of something. The way she came at me with such a hateful stare and tone was extremely juvenile and unprofessional and it appeared she had already decided I was guilty. In fact, she had already found me guilty of all charges. By this time I was shaking and unnerved and she was obviously trying to intimidate me with this ugly tone and the threat to call the police that I had called the police chief myself as I have him on speed dial because I am a reporter for the Valley and I showed it to her and said, âIf you want to talk to the police, here. Go right ahead.â I finished with the weights and then went upstairs and got on the bike. I was on the bike for 13 minutes and a young man probably in his twenties asked me to leave. There was no reason for me to leave. I wasnât doing anything. I wasnât threatening. I was just minding my own business on the bike. This was also unprofessional. As I was walking out she gave an extremely juvenile grin as if to say, âhaha, I won.â And she goes youâre the one that called the police.â Yes, after you threatened to. This thing was handled so unprofessionally it was bizarre. This girl didnât even know me and she charged into me like a gorilla with these accusations about taking pictures. I donât take pictures at the gym, not even of myself. I see people do so all the time and no one thinks twice about it. I have been with this gym for three years with no problem and have even written stories about the gym for the Valley Morning Star and given them publicity. I did recall seeing one individual there, a man giving me the stink eye like he had it in for me, although I have never seen him before. The way this was handled was wrong. She came at me, she provoked a reaction, and she seemed like she was on some little powertrip. And she was throwing all this silly one-liners typical of a girl her age that were so familiar and so predictable I could write the script. If my membership is terminated, that would be even more bizarre and even laughable. Just another example of how this world has become so unhinged. The correct course of action would be an...
Read moreWent in to try out the gym before commiting to a membership. 1st impression when I walked in was, judgment from the front desk staff. 2nd, the gym is cluttered with strength training equipment and where's the cardio equipment...? As soon as I reached the front desk, the manager greets me & takes me straight to a desk where he starts discussing membership prices. He didn't mention the annual fee at all until I asked. And a guest is only able to go with you 3 days a week. Lol! Seriously! I told him i wanted to try it out first before getting membership information and requested a pass for a 2nd time. He gave us a tour of the gym. Cardio area was dead. Not a single person there. It's boring. No music, no tvs. Of course, i can take my own music, but what if I forget my headphones..? We went back to his desk & He refused to give me and 3 guests a pass because he wanted to know what would determine our decision to join. I advised my decision would be based off of how much I like the gym and how comfortable we felt while working out. He said theres no television on cardio because its a huge distraction so stare at the walls people. I advised i enjoy doing cardio. He went on to tell me how I needed to do only 10 min of cardio and weight lifting the rest of the time i was there 5 days a week. Uh! For 1 i didn't ask for your opinion on a workout routine. That got me so upset. He then said not to base workout on the cardio equipment and to do the classes. I advised I wouldnt have time for classes due to being busy. He smirked. I told the people I was with, this aint gonna work out. He's giving us a hard time to try out the gym with a guest pass. If this is how they act & they're not even getting my money yet, imagine how difficult my membership will be if i enroll. We got up & the manager started laughing because I asked if the cardio equipment had tvs. He said tvs are a distraction. Uh... every gym I've been to has tvs so this guy is , paque te digo, menso. So ya, again, stare at the blank walls if you join. Lol. We walked out happy we didn't fall into that...
Read moreI went here for a visit with my husband to try out something new. The front desk man was very kind and fast to help us out, but there was an older man there with a broom who didn't seem like he really enjoyed the gym, I don't know if he owns it or just works there but his presence seemed rather awkward and undetermined. The gym has a great look but is rather small, I think if they had made the childs room smaller and cut down those closed door offices or had less squat stations this could have meant potential space for more, it would definetly be enough to add machines that are not available in this gym. The cardio machines are great and I enjoy that they placed all of these upstairs which gives it a nice touch. Elevator is really convenient for those unable to use the stairs. Many machines are not woman friendly though like the standing and sitting calf machines, the pads are too widely placed and for a woman you have to work a little harder to adjust yourself and it becomes uncomfortable, my shoulders created streaks of blood bubbles from the bad position of having to try to use a machine made for wider shoulders and I had to widen my leg width on the sitting calf just to keep the padding on my leg so these unusual adjustments made it hard to use the machines. The sauna is really amazing, perfect size and temperature everytime. I say if you are a first timer and don't need a huge variety to use for yourself or love some cardio, then take a chance on this gym. There is definetly too many of one type of machine and when I say too many I mean 4 to 5 tricep extension machines that could be replaced with a machine not available here like a chest dip machine. Overall it is a good gym to try out...
