After having heard so many good things about this place, We finally went to Ramses on 77th strip to see and taste the food for ourselves. I was disappointed. Ordered the Bomba Tacos and the Enchiladas Huastecas combo. Also ordered the queso flameado appetizer. I'll just say the queso flameado was the better item we ordered as it was the freshest thing on our plate. The mexican rice, that comes w/ the Enchiladas, is microwaved. The small portion of iceberg lettuce and six tomato cubes is considered the salad. The enchiladas are par cooked and just topped off with warm salsa before they plate it for the customer. The fajita portion that came w/ the plate was luke warm w/ salt on it. Nothing impressive about the cut of meat. I was asked if I wanted 1 flour or 2 corn tortillas...no other option...more on that up next. When we ordered the queso flameado, we were asked if we wanted 1 flour tortilla or 2 corn tortillas...total! not per person...but for the both of us. We opted for the corn tortillas. We each got one. They were not good. I've seen stale corn tortillas that looked way better than what we got. The other dish, the Bomba Tacos were bland at best and the meat wasn't easily identifiable either. It could have been beef or chicken or turkey or bison...you get the point. Menu states they were bistec but that was not bistec. Regarding the atmosphere, it has some potential and having the staff behind the bar in a group all on their phones while the guests are needing refills and utensils is not good customer service. Not impressed with this establishment. Perhaps their other location is better? not in a rush...
Read moreMy top to takeaways would be a 3-way tie between:
#1 The customer service- which was phenomenal
#2 It wasn’t hot- This is one of the only restaurants I have been to in the whole RGV that is not scared to use their air conditioner… It felt absolutely amazing in there & coming from a guy who keeps his home thermostat on 67, that is saying a lot..
#3.. Very affordable.. Just look at these prices.. I would almost venture to say that they could actually go up in price, and still be the majority of their competition… But I hope they don’t.. LOL..
Well, that’s all the important stuff so now for the rest of the review..
Went for a drive last night & we accidentally came across this place.. Doesn’t look very promising from the outside, but don’t let that stop you… They have created a really cool environment inside..
They have one of those digital jukeboxes, so you can request music from your phone. Plus they have a number of TVs up there to watch for entertainment..
They had three dollar margaritas specials, so that was cool… Probably should make this a lot more detailed review but honestly I’m kind of in a hurry, so just go check it out you won’t regret it..
We will definitely be coming here to hang out for a little bit longer next time we’re in the area..
Thank you guys for the great...

The wife and I shared some chips and salsa, bistek taquitos fully loaded and a few drinks. Watched the WS game and listened to the music. Great dj on a Friday evening. Only downside was music was just a tad bit loud, night club loud. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way, we enjoyed our visit. Service was ok. I think they were running a little short, but they were very courteous. Definitely be back, the wife want to finish trying the Margarita line... March 23 visit for bfast.
