Extra Space Storage — Attraction in Harrison

They asked me to come in because there was a rancid smell. I drove an hour and a half to the unit and requested the manager come with me to my unit to inspect it. She states that the smell isnt emanating from my unit. I proceeded to explain to her that I cant come on a whim because I live so far away. A week passes and she asks me to come in because the smell is coming from my unit. I proceed to explain to her that she was in my unit with me and stated prior the smell was not emanating from my unit. I told her I would come in when I can. I proceeded to call customer care and request for a District manager to call me and he never did. 4 days go by and I get a letter stating they were going to break into my unit within 3 days of me recieving the letter. As soon as I recieve the letter, I called Extra Space Storage in Harrison to tell them I would be on my way. To my horror, the manager explained that they broke into my unit and found food in the fridge. I proceeded to explain to her that it was impossible to have food in the fridge as it was thoroughly cleaned out by me and another person prior to moving it there. A week or so goes by and I recieve a set of keys in the mail with a letter stating it was the keys to my new lock. I proceed to go to my unit the next day to see if anything was missing or damaged. As I open my unit,I began filming, and to my horror and dismay, I had a religious painting damaged and torn, my brand new 4k 65" Smart TV had scratches and white stuff all over, my bags had a fine white powder on it, and my New King Sized Mattress had a tear in it,as if someone ran a knife through it, just to name a few. My religious painting that I hold so precious had my xbox thrown in it,shattering the plastic and wooden frame. The items I had blocking the fridge (a 200 pound dresser and TV stand) werent even moved from their place. As I'm digging through the carnage Extra Space Storage left, the Manager walks up to my unit and I asked her why did they damage my religious paintings. I told her to target ones religion is a hate crime and is very serious. I would be angry at the fact that they scratched my TV, but the fact that they would stupe so low as to target ones religion has me angry beyond words. ADDENDUM: SUPER THANKS TO BROOKE & MARYANNE. YES, I'M SHOUTING FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOP, "YOU CAN BET YOUR SWEET BIPPY" AND YOU CAN COUNT WITH EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. The Unit I'm renting is sufficient enough to serve my needs. The Office area is very neat, bright and airy. I had forgotten to bring the lock and I purchased one there. I think the price on the lock seemed reasonable. I also purchased the company "Renter's Insurance", there too I think it seemed reasonable. They have Sr. Discount and hooray, I'm a Senior. The most pleasurable experience was super enhanced with Deja's Customer Service. Deja is a very personable, likeable, lovely, positive, knowledgeable Representative. Deja afforded, by sharing, any and all information that someone needs in order to make an informed decision. Deja is meticulous in the storehouse information. Deja engaged, not only with her Charisma, the Q & A portion, for customer base knowledge was impeccable and superb. At no time did I feel slighted with questions brought forth by Deja. In fact, very intuitive of Deja to use the Q & A approach. Deja has. great tech savy proficiency with online use and showed me how to navigate the site for any changes, I may need to make. Today, the overall experience was superb. Deja the Super Star of Extra Space Storage....

Do not be fooled by their kindness and fakery when you first use their services.

What they fail to tell you is they increase your monthly rent charge by over %100! I was shocked to find out that that is their standard practice once you have rented their storage space for 3 months, your next bill goes up by a whooping 100% if you are lucky, with no written notice nor email or choice to opt out. My fees went from way less than $200 to $300 in less than a month; leaving my bank account overdrawn!

This is yet another way of blindsiding and stealing from customers. There are no added value or benefits this storage company provides yet their audacity to increase the storage rent just like that? No communication, no notice!

This is the worst service experience, more like a scam! If my situation changed for the better, I would move out in a jiffy!
