Electronic Design Systems (EDS TV) in Colmar on Rt 309 is a total gem for anyone interested in a great place to buy a TV or Home Electronics. I am going to go on a bit on this. So if you just want the headline, here it is. EDS is very much a partner who is committed to the customer. Their prices are competive. The staff is knowledgeable. In my experience over 20 plus years, they will not stop until they are sure I am totally happy with the product I purchased and will do whatever is necessary to make sure the installation is JUST RIGHT.
Several years ago, I bought 2 Sony TV's. Outstanding install and knowledge with that one. (Example: They were on my patio with a metal cutting saw needed to modify the TV stand I had purchased). EDS always has expert and friendly sales advice. Mark was excellent on this front. On August 15, 2023, EDS delivered and intalled two Samsung TV's. Mike called to let me know he was on his way. The existing TV's were aging but still worked. So Mike put them back in the original boxes (YES. I saved the boxes) and took them to the basement. That guy is strong. Then he got to setting up the new Samsung OLED. Hmm. No Internet. What's going on? I had a direct wired Ethernet connection from my FIOS router in the Basement to the TV. I had that FIOS Ethernet cable connected to another four port router in the TV stand for: -The TV itself and .. a Sonos Base, Sonos WIFI Router to surround sound room speakers, Subwoofer & a ROKU
As it turned out, I disconnected the existing TV from that Router and when I plugged the Ethernet cabling back in to get ready for the new Samsung, I messed that up. But Mike didn't know that at the time. All we know was that something was wrong. It created a tough situation to diagnose. Mike didn't blink. He knew for sure he could diagnose and fix the problem. He had all the necessary equipment and full knowledge of the network connectivity. He went to the basement and he noticed a flaw in the Ethernet cable install in the Basement (i.e. from the FIOS router to the TV itself) So he offered to string a new CAT6 Ethernet directly to the Samsung OLED. I did want a quality connection. I asked him to go ahead. This was clearly out of scope. I told him to add that labor to the final invoice. There was more. After the new CAT6 install, the Samsung TV started letting us know the Router in the TV Stand was not putting out a good signal. It needed to be replaced. Mike was fully prepared for contingencies. He had one in his truck. In the end, it was the full boat EDS customer experience. Smooth and professional, and also flexible and ready to go with whatever extra effort to keep the...
Read morePoor experience and awful customer service. Hired them to mount a television for me. Paid in full in advance which I guess was the first mistake. I had paid for a mount but then wound up getting my own. I had called and told them this and they said they would credit it back after the installation ($99 for the mount). Instead, they came out and did the job (poorly) as the television is not level. Also, one technician called me to tell me he was 15 minutes away on the day of install and seemed to think he was mounting a very small tv. I told him “no, it’s a 70” tv and that is what I paid for.” The technician says “well I’m alone so can you help me hang it?” Seriously, how pathetic is that!! They are incredibly disorganized. The technician came out and made negative remarks about my LG tv claiming it was junk and would maybe last a year. He told me they only use Samsung and Sony. Well, guess what...I don’t care because I got it at Costco and it came with a 7 year warranty (2 years from Costco, 3 years from square trade, and then 2 years from Costco visa). Buying a tv from Ed’s will never give you a 7 year warranty and you will pay more!! Further, after the install it was clear they had no intention of refunding the $99 for the mount I didn’t need. I did have them run 2 extra hdmi cables on site thru the wall and how convenient their technician told me that would be a wash with the $99 mount so no refund. How convenient! An exact wash lol. Those are some expensive hdmi cables at $50 each. They take offense if you don’t buy the merchandise from them. I would avoid at all costs! They are shady and...
Read moreEd's came out to mount our 75 inch tv. My husband described in full what he wanted and they gave him a price. They were so sure of their estimate they told my husband that for them to come out and look at it would cost even more. When they arrived, they had to "Upgrade the mount" 2 grades up ($80 more). They did a nice job mounting and putting our devices back. One gentleman was nice and friendly, the other, a constant scowl and abrupt. He had comments about the "condition of the back of our equipment that I don't think he realized I heard. Anyway, after they left, I found one channel had no audio. I called and before I got out half my explanation he told me it was comcast's problem. I said the audio upstairs was fine and it worked fine before the men arrived. He rudely told me I was not listening. It was not an Ed's TV problem and I should call Comcast. He said Ed's does this for a living so he should know. When I asked him who he thought he was speaking to in such a rude manner, he said he was not rude he was right. Right or wrong, it's not the way to talk to someone who just paid an arm and leg for a mounting. Good installation or not, I would never recommend these people to anyone. They have no common courtesy or customer service. I'm hoping I find no other issues as it's only been...
