Great Texas (Austin) style barbecue joint!
This place is kind of a hidden gem. Never heard of it before searching for ‘bbq near me’ on Google. John (I presume) is very kind, personable, and definitely a formidable pit master. I purchased the Brisket, Sausage (cheddar and jalapeno), with mac&cheese and beans plate. He even gave me an an extra double portion of burnt ends, cause I was the first in line that day. The mohawk pieces were sooooooo tender and delicious. The brisket’s deep dark S&P crust on the outside, combined with that smoky pink ring on the inside … perfection. The sausage stood out above everything, and was cooked traditional TX style. That’s saying a lot because I’m a huge brisket fan. Great mac&cheese. The beans were good; an interesting combination of northern sweet pork&beans with southern ranch style beans. Both really sweet and really savory. What can I say this place is the real deal. It gives even the most popular Austin bbq joints a run for their money. Once you eat here you’ll never visit another local bbq restaurant. Parson and his crew are seriously shooting for some big Texas stars all the way out here in the...
Read moreAmazing, I mean AMAZING BRISKET. I was driving by after a long day of working on a house and turned around to try this new spot out. GLAD I DID BECAUSE THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!!!
The staff was friendly and very polite, made you feel like you were at a family gathering or something. Saw Charlie Crockett merch and the rest was history! John Parson was present and such a great guy to talk to!
The brisket sandwich was HEAVY and GENEROUSLY PORTIONED!!!
I don’t know what else to say other than that this is the real deal. Zig Zag, Fette Sau are great in their own right, but they’re in the dense city while John Parsons is a proper restaurant, roadside like...
Read moreThe second to last best BBQ I had was Brown’s Backyard when I was in Fort Worth. After four years of searching for something close, I’ve found one that easily is in the same class and my first best—Parson’s. The ribs were perfect, pulled pork excellent dry, and sausage I could taste every ingredient. Mac and cheese was perfect with rotini (key to holding a lot of cheese), breadcrumbs a perfect addition, and coleslaw perfectly crunchy and sweet. My smaller companion was all about the pulled chicken and chocolate cornbread. The hot and sweet sauces were excellent, too. My only regret was not finding this...
