It is a nice memorial. Nothing to plan a day around.Take a picture and leave. There are no vendors, no vending machines and no public restroom. Luckily the location is very convenient. You might as well stop by and see the eternal flame which is located a short distance from the Kamehameha statue. Just like the statue, it is nice, but nothing to plan...

If you were to stop in Hilo for just one day, make a trip to the KING KAMEHAMEHA STATUE. Pull out a blanket, have a picnic, bring your lunch and afterward take a walk over the bridges and around the park. Lovely time for the whole ohana/family.
