I've always loved this park. But man do I miss the "swinging bridge" actually being able to swing. But them dam youngsters got a little (a lot 😏) crazy and down it came. 😔 That's ok though, we still have the stepping stones way down on the east end. A beautiful thing...only if the water is not too high...HAH...that rarely happens anymore. And there is a book nook(?) thing. Take one, leave one type thing. I love that!!! And the hike trail!! Not my thing, but it is wonderful to just walk around it. Bring a drink, tho!

All that said... Frontier Park has always been my fave Hays Park. The buffalo park across the way is really great as well! We have lots of young buffalo! And an Albino buffalo or 2!!...

This is a nice family park. There is a friend going course that runs throughout the park. There are some picnic tables around the park, and at a central location where there is a main building that looks like it is used for larger gatherings. We didn't get a chance to look around the whole park, or to get close to the larger park building because there was a private party there. There are spots throughout the park where you can park separately from others. It was a nice place to walk the dog and let her run around before we set it for the long drive home. Sadly, I wasn't able to get pictures; my phone died and was on the charger while we...

Stopped to see the Buffalo and wasn't disappointed. They seem very friendly; as we were walking up, the majority of them came very close to the fence. Felt terrible I didn't have any leafy plants or grass hay to toss over, but who keeps that on them 😅. Buffalo #22 seems to be the one in charge; many moved when he came over to the fence. If they had a stand to pay/donate to feed them, I would have. (automated so it doesn't have to be manned & falls into the pen with a couple separate feeders near the fence - just an idea). There are 2 fences a decent distance apart. The restroom are...

We stopped at Frontier Historical Park to specifically see the bison, notably the ‘ghost buffalo,’ Ghostbuster. We were surprised to see/learn that Ghostbuster was brought in many years ago, and there is a brand new, unadvertised even more white baby bison who joined the herd. We were lucky that the bison were all hanging near the fence at the southeast corner of their pasture, and we could get great views and photos. Definitely worth a stop! We didn’t check out the rest of the park, but it’s looks beautiful and has a well-maintained disc golf course.

It was so windy and cold when we were there we couldn't enjoy it as we would have liked, and we only saw a couple bison who were kind of far from us standing and drinking water from a pond the whole time. It wasn't really even much of a photo op. Next time we're in Hays on a nicer day we'll drive by again.
