Another once-good thrift store has bit the dust. Prices are nuts now. $30 for a chipped pink candy dish?!? $35 for an "as-is" brass lamp - just because it's "from the 80s"?!?! No wonder the store was empty on a Sat morning.
I teach history; I like old stuff - but I'm not paying antique store prices if I have to drive out of my way and sift through tons of other junk. I used to always make a point to visit this shop when I was in the area - now I'll just hit one of the dozens of antique stores in between. I'll save money on gas, find items in great condition, shop fun and well-curated displays, find all the vintage stuff I could want in one place, probably get free coffee while I shop, and likely score the same items for less than what Arc is now asking. OR if I'm gonna be paying these eBay prices, I'll just do that - shop online and have it shipped...
Read moreI have always packed up my garage sale items that didn’t sell & brought them 50 miles to The Arc to donate. I love what the Arc does with the proceeds; & I found out one of the recipients is a relative of a good friend of mine. This year I held my last garage sale due to my health. From now on; I will pack up my car or pick-up and bring my items directly to the Arc! I’ve walked inside the store part too. It’s very nice & organized inside; & employees are friendly & helpful. I forgot to mention how great the guys were who helped me unload items from my car; as I have 6 damaged disks, degenerative disk disease, fibromyalgia & chronic migraines(4-7 per week). You guys have made my job of taking care of my surplus items so much easier. Thank you all....

On my last visit I was shocked at how drastically prices were marked up. Good condition or not, $75 for men's overalls??? If I were wanting to spend that much money on one item I would just purchase it new at the store. Many things I seen that day were ridiculously overpriced. Makes me sad because I cannot afford to shop at what used to be my fave...
