I called last Monday checking the availability of the gymnasium and banquet hall on Sunday of the Labor Day weekend and one of the staff in the front desk said yes those are available. We went there to reserve the place and spent almost an hour driving to get there but only to find out that the place will be closed on the week of the Labor Day according to the manager we spoke with because of their scheduled maintenance renovation of the place. The manager's alibi was that the staff who answered my call was just a year old in the job and she did not know about the availability of place for rental purposes. I don't think it is the fault of the staff personnel who answered my call. It is the manager's fault for not updating their calendar for reservation and blocking those dates that are not available so that the front desk will have direct knowledge and accurate response when customers call for availability of the desired facilities to rent. It was a waste of time and effort on our part because of their...
Read moreA good resource for Town of Herndon residents and visitors alike. Nice pool, gym, racquetball/handball courts, new exercise equipment and weights, plus various activity rooms. Lots of classes available plus individual training if you want. Daily charge as low as $7 for residents, plus multiple visit passes up to annual memberships. There are also events throughout the year.
COVID-19 Update: I went to the workout area this morning and was impressed with the new procedures. There are 5 fitness time slots, each separated by a cleaning interval. Equipment has been rearranged for proper distancing, with spillover taking over one of the hard courts. They've obviously done their homework. I felt very safe there.
Update: The layout is back to normal, pre-Covid configuration. I'm usually there in the mornings and see few people. One day I went late afternoon, and while there were more people, it was mostly some students after school. Still not crowded. Plenty of room...
Read moreI took my daughter for the Open Gym playtime today thinking it would be fun for her since most other things were closed due to the holiday. For $10 it was definitely not worth the money. There were tunnels, ball pits, mats and hula hoops. We go to other rec centers with open gym time and they have bounce houses and only charge $1 (Sterling Community Center.) I was expecting a lot more. Even Monkey Joe's or Hyper Kidz charge less for her age to play and those are legitimate play areas for children. It was very disappointing. The attendant working there sat on her phone the entire time which was so unprofessional. Some of the kids playing looked much older than 5, but I would say this would be entertaining for 12-18 months max. There was also a man taking photos which I didn't like/we weren't asked if we were okay w it. The equipment smelled horrible, somewhere between stinky feet and sweaty bodies. I was disgusted and didn't even stay the...
