I'm disgusted with my experience today.
Last night I called the pharmacy and asked a tech to send a refill request to my grandma's doctor because she ran out of her glaucoma eye drops. The next morning I followed up withĀ theĀ doctor'sĀ office and they said that my request hadĀ already been approved. I then called the pharmacy back to follow up. I spoke with Linda who accidentally gave me information on the wrong medication- she told me that theĀ medication wouldn't be covered by insurance for another 4 days and recommended that I call theĀ insurance to request an override. I called the insurance but they didn't have any record of the eye drops being rejected. After being on the phone with them for an hour they called the pharmacy in an attempt to put us on a 3-way-call so thatĀ there would be no misinformation. The insurance rep. spoke with Monica who declined a 3-way-call but informed them that the problem wasn't with the insurance, but that the refill was denied by the doctor. That'sĀ not what I was told prior.
I re-called the doctor who resent the approval and offered to print me out a hard copy if theĀ pharmacy was still havingĀ difficulty. I then re-called the pharmacy and Monica said that she found the approval and that I can come pick up the drops in 2 hours.
Nearly 3 hours later I drove to the pharmacy and Catherine said that theĀ medication wasn't ready yet but they would call my name in 5 minutes. I stayed in the waiting area for 20 minutes before deciding to getĀ back in line to follow up. After another 10 minutes in line, I was up next. Rudely, when Catherine finished helping her customer she saw that I was next in line and instead of checking on my medication she told her co-worker she was going on her break. So I stood there, next in line, for another 5 minutes waiting for a follow up. My 90 year old grandma and I waited for 45 minutes instead of "5." Her medication was ready but no one called us.
A total of 5 hours of my day was wasted because of the miscommunication and incompetence of the Walgreen's staff....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not recommend this pharmacy. It is advertised as a ā24 hour ā Walgreens pharmacy. In fact is not. They close at 9 pm but in reality they close sooner than 9 as I called at 8:54 and was told they are done for the night. I then asked if they could transfer my medications over to my preferred walgreens and they told me they absolutely could not do so.
Called in again this morning to get my prescriptions filled and was put on hold for 2 hours. (Kept having to hang up) finally called corporate Walgreens and was thru in 10 minutes.
I was then told that they had transferred one of my prescriptions to my preferred Walgreens last night and the other one was ready for me.
Once I arrived in store to pick up my prescription there were 4 pharmacy techs 2 of which who were just walking back and forth ( maybe work related but when you have 7 people in line you prioritize patients)
When I was finally called back the pharmacy tech named Rey took a phone call after calling me up and getting my medications. And when I said I would wait for him to be done with his phone call as I had questions he rolled his eyes and prompted me to pay.
I ended up walking away and went to the front. When I spoke with the staff at the front of store I was informed they donāt have a store manager onsite as they are over the entire high desert and would not be back until tomorrow to assist with any concerns.
As this has been my go to pharmacy I will highly reconsider ever sending a patient, family member or myself here again as obviously they are more concerned about themselves that patients who actually need assistance. As they even have a sign saying something along the lines of while our staff are here caring for you they also have people caring for them at home. Honestly donāt care, all medical professionals, from CNAs to doctors have people they care for at home. That doesnāt give an excuse for poor...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExpect a wait. if your just popping in to grab something off the shelf and check out, no problem. but if you're here for your prescription, or immunization expect to wait in the makeup aisle for a bit. Will give you time to absorb the ambiance of the store. Bright florescent lights highlighting the accumulated dirt and dust on the air exchange system as you wait your turn to figure out where to go, only to be told that no, your doctor/clinic was wrong and they don't accept Molina... they really should have a sign for that so as not to waste peoples time unnecessarily. (The CVS across the road however is contracted. I know this because I heard the tech say so to at least 4 customers as I waited) Finally you find out the vaccines and immunization window is also the Consultation window, no signage or indication to go there. and I know this because a Walgreens 3 miles away and across the river has signs for where to go.
The Tech whom did her best to help me did an adequate job and I do not blame her at all, these are problems to be solved by management and not the pharmacy staff. Despite what looked like all hands on deck and people called in to help, they were swamped that...
