Centennial Station Arts Center — Attraction in High Point

Hosting prom here was horrible. While the venue was decent, we had little to no communication with the person we booked through. They wouldn't let us set up until 4pm, which I would understand if the venue actually got booked as much as they like to claim. We got there right at 4pm to set up, nobody inside. We went to another entrance where people were, and nobody would let us in even after we explained our situation, as only the woman we booked through could let us in apparently. As teenagers who had to set up our own prom, it was so inconvenient and the venue showed no care for our own problems, such as the only time they gave us to set up was right when we should be getting ready for our own prom and taking pictures. After standing there for OVER 30 minutes with NO communication from our person we booked through, she finally called and said that she thought we said 5pm, and that she wouldn't be coming any sooner than 5pm at the earliest. This resulted in my friends having to miss dinner and part of pictures in order to come and set up. The woman we booked through once she (finally) showed up was very rude. She CURSED OUT our chaperones, and yelled at them multiple times. This venue also demanded that we leave by 11pm. Not only were they very rude about it, they knew that we said our prom would run from 7:45-11pm. We ended up having to end prom early by 10:45, and we had to start cleaning up as the dance was STILL HAPPENING (10:30) in order to ensure most of us would be out by 11. That wasnt enough for them though, as we still recieved some anger on the venue's side for not having completed clean up by 11pm. Turns out they wanted us fully out of the venue by 11, cleanup and all. For that to happen, we would've had to end prom by at least 10:15 if they really wanted us to be out completely by then. Seeing local musicals and plays here is fun, but I wouldn't host any other sort of event here unless you'd like to be yelled at constantly by the people you're renting the venue from. Not to hate on the area, but we also had to bring police for the parking lot....

Don't ever host...

I have lived in High Point for over 30 years but never went to an event at this place. It's rustic and casual and intimate. I saw Sordid Lives this past weekend and the actors were amazing. It was a great fun show. I'll definitely be looking forward to attending more events...

First time visitor for yesterday's matinee performance of Sordid Lives. Good show, well done, comfortable venue and I was well received by some very friendly folks. Looking forward to my next opportunity to enjoy...
