Let me start off by saying this place as new as it is, and as much business that is in taking, they are handling it very well. As an entertainer who has been involved with the nightlife for over 15 years, who also travels multiple states & even out the country exploring nightlife. I've seen the good the bad & the ugly. I've seen complaints about the prices of the games the food the environment & the staff. I've now been to DIVE BAR HP twice from the slowest night to the busiest & and every time I have ordered drinks & food without any normal problems an average bar with food would have. Drink prices & games are all within reason. I'm a top self drinker & for me order a top shelf Whiskey drink that's priced around $8 dollars is a steal. If you ever go to a bigger city even as far as Charlotte your paying at least $10 at minimum. Don't Get me started on drink pricing out of state in high volume tourist areas, especially Florida & Disney or out West Las Vegas even up North, you'll pay double... The food they have is great for exactly what they are offering witch are finger foods that fit perfectly for the atmosphere. Pizza, Hotdogs, Nuggets, Nachos etc. I've tried just about everything & so far its been perfect every time... Bartenders have been good, going as fast as they can go to keep everyone's drinks going. People have complaints about it not being kid friendly, for one they clearly advertise that after 8pm they change to 21 & up & want start having security do there full job at the door until that time. If your looking to take your kids don't expect it to be Chucky Cheese or the Magic Kingdom experience with characters running around taking pictures & signing autographs & fairies sprinkling Magic fairy dust around your kids. This place is exactly what they promote (Bar, Food, Arcade) so with that your gonna have a verity of all types of people of all legal drinking ages at all different times of the day that want to drink, play games and play pool to get a long hards days of work & school off their mind's. As a father i know what to expect when i have taken my kids to any place that serves adult drinks, I don't expect it to be a chucky cheese environment. As far as security their jobs are to watch out & prevent problems if need be. Sorry to bust your bobble but not all security are gonna sit down & have a full-out conversation with you when they're getting paid to watch out everyone else from acting foolish. I've never had any issues with security at Dive Bar HP. I come in they check for any weapons, I ask how are you they say good and yourself check my ID & we tell each other to have a good safe night... exactly what is expected for them to do... As far as management & ownership, they are both amazing very friendly and are doing all they can to get people's feedback and input to improve the establishment as much as possible within ABC guidelines. They also do not play when it comes to people wanting to cause problems or misbehaving & can't handle their liquor. You act up, you have to leave... plan and simple as it should be.
Overall this place is gonna do great business for everything they offer and will only get even better with time. I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in the area. I'm looking forward to the new one that will be in my...
Read moreWould be better with regular darts, more variety with the games besides just giant sit down units. Like, old school games 10,000 in one unit. Some PINBALL TABLES would be AMAZING. Pool tables need some adjusting on leveling and flattening some divots in the field. Some cones for dusting hands would also be great. Also, maybe a little decrease in the price of the games where you can grab those prizes; also not make it so obvious they are rigged. Letting go of the button and the carriage keeps going for two seconds is REALLY transparently showing me I'm being scammed during that playthrough. The guy the comes in and does karaoke needs to Please make sure his screen shows the right lyrics for the song that's played! Been hearing some halting renditions and I didn't know why into I tried my hand and I got so confused I completely BOTCHED the song, a song I know 100%. What quite mortifying.
Anyways, that's the list of the things that need some improvement. Other things in there work great. Okay pricing, fast service and various theme night and games. Mostly decent people, no problems so far but a lot of HPU students and everyone who lives here knows how...high maintenance they can be.
I'm conclusion, a good place to go, just stick to the skee ball, pool, maybe the Jurassic park, one of the grabby games, but stay away from the prize key and platform games. I seriously think they are...
