I have been coming to this garden for many years and never had any problems hense returning year over year. Everything changed on May 29, 2014 I have never been treated the way the person at the check out treated me and my family. She claimed she was an owner but I have my doubts. If she is an owner I feel sorry for her because as an owner she should not be talking to the customer like that. She herself told us that she has to take 5 minutes and walked away in the middle of ringing an order. All of this over not having a proper sign for the price. She claimed that the sign was there and that we don't know how to read it. After we met one of her employees where the sign was suppose to be, he too could not find it. Apparently the sign disappeared. After coming back with the different plants, she kept insisting that the sign is there even when her own employee said no. The customer after us had the same issue and question and that is when she walked away. Wow - unbelievable. We ended up spending $175 because we were there for about an hour walking around and it would have been a waste of our time but it was very sad for me to pay and contribute to this business when we were just treated like we were nothing. My recommendation is for this supposed owner to take some lessons in customer management and how to deal with customers. You are not always right which was proven by your own employees. We will not be returning here and if you don't want to deal with disgrunted owners I would recommend not to...

I'm a Landscape Design & Build Contractor. The commercial nurseries all have run of the mill plant species. But when I need something special, to set my plantings apart from other contractors, this is one of my go to spots. They are very responsive to requests, Joe, who runs things most days is both pleasant and knowledgeable. Given the many species they stock, they do an admirable job maintaining things to the best level of vigor possible. Much better supplies than the junk you'd buy at Big Box stores that are mass produced and often poorly labeled with little to no instruction on growth habits. Their selection of perennials and flowering shrubs is second to none. And the truly harder to find species like Scotch Moss, Bog Andromeda, all I have to do is call. One of the locations will usually have them. And Lisa the owner will drop a note from time to time when they have stock of species they know I often use in my designs. They give good advice to homeowners and have the products you need to create something special. Sometimes the prices might be more than the big box stores, sure, but the quality of plants matter. You want a plant to start growing in a year, not three, before they take root, or begin to mature. If my Mother was still alive and gardening, I'd send her here, because I'd know she'd be treated with kindness, respect and fairness. The few extra dollars you might pay for better plants and up to date care of them while residing at the nursery pale in comparison to the time you'll save, finding this...

I am very much disappointed with a dishonest and rude behavior of one of the Sales Persons (Joe) at Bountiful Garden in Hillsborough. I have been a loyal customer of the Business for years. Today (09 May 2020) we picked a few items, put them on my cart and brought to counter for payment. Price of one of the items was marked as "$60/$36". This plant did not look very healthy so we asked the Lady on the counter if they have another copy of the same plant. In turn she very nicely looked into this and asked Joe and one other person standing with him something in a different language (non-English). Subsequently, all of a sudden Joe walked to the cart and told us that "the price of the plant was marked incorrectly, they forgot to change the price. It should be $90/$54". He just erased the price and placed new one. Another fellow put another tag on this plant. When we try to discuss with Joe that the plat should be sold as marked at least to honor the commitment. He was very rude and told us that this is the "Owner's policy".

This is clearly dishonest and unacceptable behavior. I am sure the Owner and Management would not want to treat their customers in such an unacceptable manner. People like Joe bring bad reputation to the business. I would recommend Management/Owner to investigate the incidence and take appropriate action regarding this employee to protect Business's reputation.

It certainly discourages me to do any further business with Bountiful Gardens and encourages not to be a...

Fantastic place, we've been coming here for years. In the last few years we moved further away and developed more of an interest in native plants, which I'd mail order as plugs. We stayed on BG's email newsletter however and lo and behold native plants are getting big over there too! We were impressed by the selection when we trekked back out earlier this spring, but just went back today thanks to a very educational talk and tour hosted by BG and the NJ Native Plant Society. The selection was even more massive, you really won't need convincing to not plant anything else, truly amazing stuff, along with expert advice to get you going. Makes going native so easy. Go get your own mini native arboretum, rather than your garden looking like the front of your local strip mall. Highly recommend stopping by... With your largest vehicle!

I used to shop at the Chester location which is unfortunately no longer there, so I decided to check out the hillsborough one. The selection is great but the prices are insane. The wholesale pricing is more then most retail prices at other local nursery’s. Also, the owner is not the friendliest. Commenting rude things on other reviews makes me wonder... wouldn’t recommend. There are tons of better options around! 3/16 update and response to owner- Lowered review to 1 star based off the insanely rude comment on my honest review. I posted the initial comment from the owner as they modified it. Calling me uneducated ? Prices and service are facts, not opinion?? Now I realize why the Chester location failed... and also why your hillsborough location is totally filled with shrubs and trees at end of the season.. arrogant owner!

This location has a great selection of native plants as well as trees, shrubs, and so much more. I went for an event by the NPSNJ and was so inspired to make a pollinator garden that I worked with Dan on staff to design one. He was extremely knowledgable and we worked together to pick plants that would both attract pollinators but also ones I personally liked. I had them delivered and installed them myself. I also went back a few times to buy plants outside of this project and I will definitely continue. They also have one of the most engaging and educational newsletters and their social media accounts are fun too!
