St Francis Thrift Shop — Attraction in Hilton Head Island

Buyer beware at this place. Not only do they have some of highest prices on electronics, some have a "Tested" label on them but ARE BROKEN. A few months ago I was planning to purchase a 5 disc CD player from them but wanted to make sure it worked before spending my money and driving over 30 miles home. They took it to the back and it powered up but when powered down it WOULDN'T power back on. They tried it about 15 times with no luck. I saved myself a bad buying experience. Today I found a CD in a box but it had NO CD case or track listing on the CD and it that looked like it had been run over by several tractor trailers on I95. I figured they would give it to me since I was purchasing several others. Instead they took in the office and played it over the store's speaker system. I had all the songs on the CD and when they asked if if I wanted to buy it I declined. The old guy in the office told me that people take their music home to listen to it instead of asking it to be played by the store. I told this guy TWICE that the CD DID NOT have a track listing and I WASN'T buying something I didn't know what it contained. I...

Visiting HHI as we do every year and we always try to stop in this thrift store. We are traveling with our 14 year old pomeranian this year. When we stopped at the thrift store we put her in her stroller, checked the door to see if they allowed pets. There was nothing on the door prohibiting pets so we went in. Within 30 seconds a “volunteer”” was glaring at us and shaking her head. She ran into their donation prep room and was very loudly complaining about THERE IS A DOG out there….. As someone posted earlier about not letting in a service dog…which I believe is illegal….it is amazing they have volunteers like this considering their namesake. The definition of St. Francis is “St. Francis is known for his ministry to the poor and underprivileged, his care for nature and animals, and founding the Franciscan order.”. Never had such rude experience in a thrift store, I will never go back. I was doing the Holiday Thrift ShopHop and needed my card punched, was told you didn't have to buy anything just visit all 5 locations. The older woman was extremly rude when she asked "did you buy anything?" I apologized said I didn't know I had to, went to look for something although I already looked around before. I heard the other lady tell her that she punched for some people that did not purchase anything. I picked up a box of candy to buy and she scoffs "well that's free it doesn't count" so I asked if I could donate, she would not speak to me, angrily punched the card, I said thank you and she would not even respond.
