I really wanted this review to be good bc I've heard good things about this place. So i'm really reviewing the 90 minute deep tissue massage I received. The wet spa and body scrubs are probably the highlights of this bath house so if you're going for that, it's probably amazing! My massage however felt like eternity in the worst way possible. She didn't use any lotion or oil so it was all ninety grueling, minutes of rushed compressions, like dough getting punched around with total disregard of the sensitive areas like behind the knees and back of calves. To make it more awkward, she didn't speak english so I wasn't sure if she understood me saying "less pressure please". However, she understood when I winced and yelped in pain though. I woke up with a bruised spine the next day which went away after a couple days. I appreciate her hard work, but perhaps it was a bit too hard for me. Lol. I'm a massage therapist and this kind of deep tissue was not what I thought I was going to receive. So to clarify for those who are keen, just a heads up if you like being a punching bag and thrown around like a raggedy Anne doll, this is your massage!! I know there are plenty of folks who love a massage like this. No judgements here. Other than that, the atmosphere is pleasant. Lots of lovely plants in the outside seated area and the birds were a redeeming part of my experience. Definitely a great place to soak in some fresh air and drink a matcha latte from their café.

Never been to a Traditional Korean spa? For those of you who don’t know, you will be unclothed the entire time and it’s female only. It can be a vulnerable experience for some so prepare if needed. I highly recommend showing up at least an hour before your appointment so you can fully enjoy the tubs and saunas. Before enjoying the amenities, you will scrub off in the shower. Jump into the hot tub, cold plunge, saunas & hot rooms to prepare your skin. I received the #4 body scrub. I did everything and it was fantastic! I shedded all 28 years of dead skin after my scrub -no this is not a pleasant sugar body scrub, this is a SCRUB that will give you your baby smooth skin back. After the scrub; I received an oil massage, face mask, and peppermint scalp massage. It was an all around fantastic experience. ✨Remember to tip your staff, they work very hard and everyone is so friendly. Thank you everyone at Loess! 🚙 Free parking at the spa. They additionally provide you with a locker, slippers, cover up, big towel, small towel.

Such a cute Korean bathhouse in Kalihi! My first time visiting was great. Prices are transparent and listed on the board. Wet services like scrub packages will get you a facility pass ($50) where dry services like cupping will not get you access to facilities and you’ll need to pay separate. There’s a hot tub, cold tub, showers, bathroom, scrub tables, facial room, yoni room, cupping room, red clay room, charcoal room, etc. Everyone who works there is Korean, and they have Korean food and snacks at the front. I got the scrub package with the aroma oil massage and there’s some sequence to it where once you get the massage, you can no longer go into the hot and cold tubs. The scrub itself honestly kind of hurt.. but I also have quite sensitive skin. Afterwards though, I’ve never felt such soft skin or cleaner. They had bathed me at least twice and shampooed/conditioned my hair. It’s a nice thing to do with some close girl friends regularly and/or before an event where you want to feel extra put together.

All you had to do is tell me DONT WORRY COME TOMORRROW TO ENJOY YOUR SPA PASS, NOW YOU KNOW AFTER FACIAL NO SPA, THANK YOU. But you so stingy and greedy. For you was more important hold into a Fee entrance ($50 now) instead of building long term relationship with your customer. You dont care making people upset if you can take the money from them.

I went through the reviews and saw IS NOT THE FIRST TIME YOU SCAM NON LOCALS . IF YOU VISITING OUT ISLAND, BEWARE SO YOU DONT GET SCAM.

Is not about $2 or $2000 spa fee, I would argue the same over $5, is that your not willing to understand that people PAY to USE a SPA DAY, not for couple minutes. I supposed to be happy giving you $50, but for you is a fortune your bussiness gonna bank rupt. So you need to behave this bad. You got used to scam people and they just leave to avoid confrontation so you got to think this is NORMAL and is not.

YOU KNOW people pay to stay COUPLE HOURS. Nobody in this world pay $50 for 15 min, That is a SCAM and WE CAN DISCUSS THIS WITH A LAWYER IF YOU WANT. Not even your best massage is that price ($50 for 15 min) , a Gym membership you get is to use for a WHOLE MONTH,

You hold into I used your shower and couple things, because WHAT YOU SUPPOSE TO DO WHEN YOU ENTER SPA, but nobody told me INCLUDING YOU, that since you booked my facial 20 minutes later I wouldnt be able to use Spa right after, so YES I USED YOUR FACILITIES for 10-15 MIN MAYBE (Get undress, put my staff away, pee, 2 min Shower, 5 min hot tube, and maybe 5 min the charcoal room ) while i waited my appointment.

I used to love this place talk to my friends to go, but NOT ANYMORE. We going somewhere else. We spread the good news dont worry.

Telling me about I used the towel was way to understimate my intelligence. You didnt give me a new towel I can take home, You have to wash a batch of towels anyways and you gonna issue one for the massage just holding on that .....

I literraly just spend $100 and you want me just to brush me off, ok back to the spa, when you just literally told someone on the phone to dont do it? Shame on you.

You should learn from this too, and stop scaming non locals and be less greedy and practice kindness so your bussiness can grow. I dont know what is going into your personal life that you have to treat customers like that but is not right.

And you SCARE ME, If I have more time I would actually sue you because were you just stalking me all my steps when you supposed to be on the counter, because I am not asian, you literally came while I am naked to see if I used the Sponge? Are you my mom?? This is crazy. I have your comment on my files now you following all the way around is crazy. Never mind IM NOT BACK THERE.

You have no Idea, how many places in the world I also could travel and know, including Japan and Korea, and they treat you like a queen, for su much less, $8 fee entrace in Japan, so you treated me like I came from the JUNGLE just because I have accent is CRAZY.

So sad because JAPAN and KOREA do everything to keep customer happy coming back. You missed out that class.

You saying I didnt want to pay, or get if for free you are wrong. I always payed the couple times I went, and I did pay what you wanted me, you end up charging me $30 anyways (after giving me $20 discount ) so you know thats unfair right? Because if I used everything as you said why you reimbursed me? you see how that you saying you know I should get reimbursed?

I feel you unfair because you got the time to WARN your customer on the phone but not me, so what is your rule, Oh American customer ok I tell them, Foreginer SCAM THEM???? .

You have responsability over your customer , not long ago a grandpa died in a sauna you supposed to have preventive regulation and watchstander on Saunas to avoid this happens, I didnt see your stablishment in regulations. So that you gashlight customer and put everything on them is crazy.

PLease let someone more nice take charge of counter, so you get you...

I feel really heartbroken today. I used to liked this place, I used to go few times (when possible with my friends) i like the staff and the ladies doing your massage are adorable, facilities are clean, but i had an encounter today with the owner who really made me feel very unnappreciated and exploted.

It comes down Im above 30y/o never had a facial in my life, last time i went with my friend she did it, it was so nice so i decide save some money to do it, and also enjoy the hot tube because i am dealing with sacroiilits and hip problems.

Everything ulfolded when i checked in around 0320, and in the counter I ask for facil I got scheduled for 4 pm. Great, I got to the tube, shower, dip into hot water for around 10 minutes and head out to wait for my facial.

After it, I really felt thirsty went out to buy a drink when i heard the owner warning over the phone a customer that they cannot go to the spa after facil because will ruin their treatment.

After all, I feel upset, and kind of taked advantage off, so I explain that respectfully, i consider I should not pay the spa fee since I literally used for aroudn 10 to 15 minutes, i showered because You have to, and nobody told me that after that you shouldnt go to the spa.

With this the owner got upset, she told me was common sense and I still can go back to the sauna if I want, which i think was unrespectfull because i told her you literally told someone on the phone to dont and i was here, so now you you sugeesting me to ruin it, and I told her, It was $100 and now you want me to ruin it? fr?

then she said that i supposed to know, which i was her, how i supposed to know, if she knows me or see me often , why she told other customer but not me, and then is no advice, sign , rule posted anywhere. Just because Im a femal you cant assume I am used to this.

Then she said I used the spa, i have to pay no matter what, and I used a towel, which at that point I found bananas, because if you just go for massage you gonna get issue a towel anyways, and laundry that towel would be under $0.20 of a dollar, and the common sense is not to pay a full fee of $50 for an non used benefit.

So it turned out she said she refund me $20 so i supposed to be happy with that, so I really considered calling the cops because for me this is dishonest and greedy, and is not nice to the customer that already spend +$100 in a day, and comes with friends and like the place.

So after asking for my whole reimbursement she said she was going to give me gift card (those you get disccount if you go so many times) but no i dont deserve it, and that I am asking TOO MUCH.

So seriously, I did consider the cops, but honestly they have more important things to do with their time, someone might need legit help while we arguing over $30, but i am just tired of bussiness taking advantage of customer like that, and then they complain when no one else go they have to close.

IF she knows i go sometimes, i paid treatment, it wouldnt be more easiers just tell me go back next day to use my spa day ?

I literally do this trip over there because i dont have hot tube at home and it really helps with my join Pain.

Despite I love the place, I feel like I cannot keep supporting in the long run bussiness owners treat customer like that. Not everyone have experience on massages, they cannot assume, it cost them so little to be nice as she did with the other customer and advice, or make people aware other means, instead of letting this unfold and then tell you you messed up it is what it is. They might be struggling wiht money so everyone is because minimal wave you have to work about 8 hours to pay the fee, 8 hours of my time to be taken like that in 15 min, and if being a low income is a problem they can post on the entrace to show tax return in the door so only for certain type of customer, why for me losing $50 is nothing but for them refunfing you is a fortune.

I dont get it. So sad . Give her a...

The SPA itself is alright, and the lady that did the scrub + massage service is great. However, the front desk (the owner?) is really rude to the customers. She rudely asked for 18% of tips before the customer even entering the SPA. She yelled “No” or “Oh my God” to customers and rudely reminded the closing time. This kind of attitude is not acceptable for the SPA industry.

Update: I did call before I went to the SPA. I asked the closing time, and the front desk immediately hang up my phone before I asked them the rule for reservation. When I arrived, I was looking at the SPA package menu, and the front desk was pretty rude to me. If the problem was the reservation, the front desk should have told me on the phone that it's RESERVATION ONLY.

When one of the ladies gave me the tour, she also introduced the Yoni Steam, so I thought that it's also included in the package that I purchased.

I was already wearing clothes about 5-10 mins before the closing time. And the front desk woman (the owner?) kept staring at me and saying "It's closing". Come on! All the SPA I have been to would gently remind the guest the closing time during the initial appointment and before the closing time. No one would "stare" at the naked guest as if the guest owes their money. My boyfriend also only asked the front desk the service time once. He was reading in his car while waiting for me, so I don't know how "Kept asking when I would be done" came from.

It is also my Christmas Eve, not only yours.

I have been to many SPA around the world, including Chicago, Seattle, Iceland, Taiwan, Turkey, Israel, etc. I have never received such a poor attitude. Look at other negative reviews. I am not the only guest that got poor attitude from the front desk. I feel really sorry for the lady that did the scrub + massage service for me and the lady that showed me around because they were fantastic...
