The NEX is horrible. It doesn't deserve the 1 star that is required to post this review. The Commissary is not worth going to, with stocking issues, awful check in procidures, that are arbritary depending on who is 'guarding' the front door, against the miscreimisthat would try to get in, unable to buy anything because they lack a military ID. The ID is already required.
It's hours are awful, while I find it kind they allow disabled veterans access an hour early. But, make that 6, or 7. Opening to the entire public at 9 has wasted my time getting through traffic, to be denied service on all fronts.
Time and Time again, the NEX, and Commissary, have lacked basic supplies. Litter box? Nope! I had to buy a plastic box while in the Hotel, they had a whopping 1 selection when I went to the "specialty" store for animals! Go you, great job.
The furinture store is why I finally write this review. Don't go there, don't bother touching it. The delivery fee is outrageous ($100, to start, for more items, expect to pay more, below there is a better deal, from the exchange, litterally a mile away.), and the people that 'help' you get your items into a car for pickup are lazy, and don't take even more that 1 minute trying to work with you if you don't have a truck.
I've been refused twice there for a pickup, the first time I refunded the price of the delivery (which I foolishly accepted) and the furiture bought to instead get something of equal quality at Walmart, for half the cost (this is,of course, including that the NEX is "obviously" cheaper, totally, yeah, sure.). At the Walmart, I got help unpacking, and loading a Futon into a tiny rental without a second question asked.
Today, I come back with a hatchback, and looking for a table, I now don't have one tonight, because when the box showed up, the guy "helping" me just said no, it won't fit. Without the box? Nope, won't fit, because it will be the same size. Ignoring that the box would have mtiple parts, and what is inside must be smaller than the box, even by an inch at worst on each side. Nah, obviously that won't work.
I now need the good graces of a couple worker to hope and have a dinner table for Thanksgiving. Thanks NEX, for ruining my time here in Hawaii. I will never shop there ever again.
As a note, the BX in on the Hickim side, with access to the entire exchange as well, can sell furniture, and will ship it for $95 flat rate, no matter how many items you get. Just go to the BX, save yourself the pain of dealing with this place.
NEX, if you ever read this, which I doubt, because your staff is too lazy to take time and help a customer, fix yourselves. This has been the wosrt service I've ever received from a military installation. I would rather shoot up heroin with AIDS victims...

Read moreThis post is about the food court at the NEX mall (the exchange, however, is tremendous)...The food venue choices have diminished since Fall 2022. The McDonald's left and nothing has replaced it, even though it had more foot traffic than the other venues, and the replacement still has not opened. The Arby's was replaced after 18 months with another 604 restaurant, which can't keep its food stocked or condiments stocked like napkins (although its prices are better than at their beach-front locations). The Dairy Queen doesn't offer food (except hot dogs) and will not offer condiments as simple as napkins unless you buy something from them (needless to say we will now not order anything from them). Taco Bell left about a year ago; a Papa John's replaced it with poor service, few choices except for whole pizzas, and prices were high...so it closed about two months ago and nothing has replaced it. The Popeye's venue is ok, but the quality of their sandwiches and bone-in chicken is below average and their prices are two or three dollars more than over at the Hickam exchange food court. None of the NEX food court venues take the military Star Card, although the Hickam exchange food court does and offers the associated 10% discount. There are food shacks outside the NEX mall entrance but food prices are high, while quality &...
