The trolley is crowded, which was really not a problem because you just need to arrive early to get a spot. The problem was that our blue-line tourguide, Cecil, singled out an injured war vet and ridiculed him for not standing up so other riders could take his seat. The vet ignored the ridicule, continued to take pictures of the scenery, and kept his cool. When I talk to him later, during a sightseeing break, he said that he had been injured in Iraq and that he couldn't use the overhead hand-rail because of shoulder damage. This was not exactly the Aloha spirit anyone expected, and Cecil should be ashamed of himself for such behavior. No customer - or person - should ever be treated that way.
I will say that the other trolley tour drivers were great and the rides are very enjoyable. I recommend the experience for any visitor, on the whole. My problem is limited to this one experience with a very disrespectful driver. I called management to voice a complaint about Cecil and the manager I spoke with was very responsive and apologetic. Regardless, I wanted to share this experience with the general public as a matter...
Read moreI spent a week on Oahu and had a few days that I just wanted to see sights but didn't want to have to worry about parking or a rental. I got the 4 day pass and it worked out pretty well. The drivers are nice and will tell you interesting facts/info about the island on most of the routes (except the pink line which is mostly just downtown so there's not a lot of touristy info to pass on there). I will say that the trolley doesn't always show up on time (it is a bus line) so don't take this if you're on a strict schedule. FYI...there is an app called "Ride Systems" that will allow you to track the trolley to see where each trolley is on its route. Also, you have to go to a shopping center to pick up the pass in the first place (you can't just print them out online), which I found to be a bit of a pain. Still, it was a good transport option overall and I would...
Read moreI'm 2 years late with doing a review but my fiance and I will be returning there where we met after our wedding in August of this year and I told him we could ride the trolley's instead of renting a car or even riding the city's bus line.
Within the 4 lines they've got a lot of stops to carry you over to the next trolley some you have to walk to that don't connect, but not hard to get to or too far to walk to.
You can pay for a 3 or 4 day pass which is perfect if you want to travel to all the major sites, ex; Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and North Shore.
The Driver's are Great too! Very knowledgeable about the island, almost like tour Guides. Seating comfortable.
I bought passes at a stand by the shops near cheesecake factory.
Can't wait till August to...
