I came in to Eastern Balance Oriental Medicine in the Heights seeking help for a health concern and was seen by Dr. Gong who consulted me on my condition and provided an accupuncture session. During my consultation she made some interesting comments about their approach and how they do not "rob" anyone. I found her comments strange but didn't make much of it at the time. I enjoyed my accupuncture session and my experience was good. They offered me 2 herbal formulas which I purchased even though I was doubtful about the price for a small bottle of tangerine peel tea powder($65) that was just for a 5 day use. I went home still curious about this costly tea so I decided to research it and to my surprise I found that "granulated tangerine peel" which was the main ingredient on the packaging was only $13 online for the exact same bottle/brand that I purchased from Eastern Balance Oriental clinic. That is a 500% retail markup for the product! I called the clinic next morning and they explained that the packaging bottle for my tea was different than what they actually put inside the bottle and the doctor mixed other unknown herbs into the bottle. I specifically asked what was inside the besides tangerine peel and they said they did not have that information. I questioned them on the legality of selling herbal supplements with missing label/ingredient list and they dismissed my concerns and basically told me that's how they operate. At this point I knew this was fraud and requested a refund, the lady on the phone said you will need to come to our Gessner location for the refund, so I drove 25min. When I arrived they tried to explain again that they repackage all their formulas in bottles that don't correspond with what's inside. Then said that they could not refund my credit card because they have different billing systems than the heights clinic. I became very upset that they did not say anything over the phone when I told them I was coming over to that location for my refund. Then they got on the phone with someone, and immediately went scrambling for cash to pay me the $65 back. There was no apology, no reasonable explanation which leads me to conclude this is a fraudulent business and unlike what the doctor told me, they do "rob" people. I literally had bad dreams about this that night so if you want to avoid nightmares do not go here. (Here's a picture of the product and the exact same...
Read moreFrom the moment I read Eastern Balance’s reviews, I knew I just had to go there. I don’t know if you’ve ever had the experience of going to an MD (or more than one) and explaining what is going on with your body to have them tell you “I don’t believe in that” or “That’s not a thing.” It’s very crushing. I have EMF Sensitivity issues. Which means that when they did the 5G rollout in Houston and installed all these antennas while we were in quarantine, by the time they started opening up the city, I suffered so much. Started feeling body aches, headaches, weakness, arrhythmia and tight chest. I even went out to the country side for a weekend and although I felt the effects less, they were still present. I was beginning to loose hope. Then I went to see Dr. Gong knowing that Chinese Medicine and acupuncture had helped me with other issues in the past. She read my symptoms and immediately said, “EMF sensitivity. We can work together to correct that.” Just the hope and acknowledgment alone was a huge step forward for me. Knowing there was someone who understood and was positive about correcting this. I’ve been going there for almost 3 months for acupuncture and treatment at the Houston Heights location and am so much stronger. I went from my body going into a complete panic when I was out for too long to being able to function without the pain and having certainty that if I do experience mild pain once in a while, it is not permanent. I’m so thankful for Dr Gong and Eastern Balance. I’ve also been bringing family members and friends who have gotten better. Even some with some viral activity, they were able to help recover quickly with the teas they prepare and a phone consult. Finding this practice has been a...
Read moreI have been a patient of Eastern Balance Oriental Medicine for years. I used to have routine problems with the lumbar region of my back – no more. I had limited range of motion and chronic soreness in my shoulders – gone. I had a chronically achey tailbone, which made it uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time – that has been greatly improved. I ran my first marathon in 2016, and Dr. Gong had me ready to go! My training went very well, and like anyone training for endurance events, I developed physical issues during my training – sore ankles, knee pain, achilles tendon soreness – and worked through all of them with Dr. Gong. There are two Dr. Gongs at the Heights clinic. They are sisters, and I am treated by both of them. Dr. Gong’s whole body, whole spirit approach has been very effective for me. Maintaining balance in all of my body functions and energy levels has led to my being in incredible health for years now. I mostly use acupuncture to maintain my good health these days, but if anything crops up, I go see Dr. Gong. In addition to the quality of the medicine practiced here, the level of understanding and caring is remarkable. The approach is truly a whole patient approach to health and well-being, and emotional issues going on in my life can affect my physical being and vice versa. Dr. Gong’s bedside manner and ability to listen to patients makes her very effective, and also a joy to be treated by. I don’t have enough good words to recommend Eastern Balance Oriental Medicine. I will say this: I have referred multiple friends of mine, and they are all still patients. That...
