Great stay!! 5/5, would recommend. Front desk was very friendly and allowed me to check in early. I came on a weekday and was given a room upgrade without even asking, so that was very nice of them. They treat their members very well. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of room to both relax or get work done. During my stay, a maintenance guy did try to enter my room to replace a light fixture. I wasn’t comfortable letting a random person into my room without a prompt or notice from the front desk. For my own safety, I requested they come back once I’ve checked out. I didn’t notice any light fixtures needing replacement, so I guess they just put work into making sure your stay is comfortable. The area around the hotel is under construction, so be advised there was no drop off or pick up from the lobby available. Parking lot is located around the back of the hotel with clear signage. Cost about 35 bucks to park at night. Plenty of coffee and/or food options right on campus within walking distance. They have a restaurant on-site and a Starbucks is located just across the street in the Student Center. They open early as well, so it made everything very convenient. They have free waters in the room if you’re a Hilton Honors member and a small lobby store for any essentials as well. Microwave is also located in the store. Overall, great stay. Once construction is finished, I’m sure the area will be much more convenient as well. Can’t wait to stay again if I’m ever in Houston again.

If you are visiting someone at the University of Houston, do not stay at this on campus hotel. You’ll be much happier if you book with an inexpensive hotel and drive into campus, because this place was a comedy of errors. But it sure wasn’t funny at the time.||When the young student who appeared to be the only staff member working at the hotel gave us a room, that he said was a little difficult to find and not close to the elevators, as we had requested, he tried to give us a different room and said the computer system wouldn’t let him change it. So we offered to go to the room and let him know if the distance to the elevators was managable. It was, but barely. He also said it was an accessible room. The only nod to accessibility was handrails in the bathtub.||In the early evening after we’d had dinner, we tried to bring the room temp up above 66 degrees. No luck, so we called the desk. Who came to help us was the young man from the check-in desk. He fussed with the thermostat and left, but the room temp remained where it was. When I called back, he came up again and explained that everyone else had gone home, so he was the only one to help us. He still couldn’t get the thermostat to work, so he got us some extra blankets to wrap up in.||The next morning the staffer at the desk said she would have maintenance come up while we were doing our meetings at the University, but asked right away if we’d like another room if they couldn’t fix it. We said no because we’d be back late afternoon and leaving early the next morning. The hassle didn’t seem worth it.||When we returned that afternoon, not only was the heat not working any better, but there had been no maid service. When we asked about that at the front desk, they said we had to request it. It wasn’t an automatic service. We hadn’t been told that. She did offer us a space heater since the room was so cold||Finally, the elevator from the parking garage was out of order (with no sign posted!), so two of us who are disabled had to navigate a steep, deserted, dirty staircase to get the lobby. The next morning, we had to use another elevator, far from the car, to get our luggage to the parking garage.||Although we did contact the General Manager to request a refund, he was not helpful. After hearing our litany of problems, he reluctantly gave us a $100 refund.||We were relieved to say goodbye to this hotel. It was shabby, service was terrible, and many things were out of order. It seemed deserted and almost spooky.||That’s a lot of problems for a room that cost us more than $500 for...

The University of Houston is one of the most unique and underrated schools in Texas. I have been at this school for one semester and I love it!

Let’s start off with the campus - There is constant construction going on. Parking is a problem but the university is fixing that by building several parking garages. There are 40,000 students so there is going to be endless traffic. UH has come a long way from its past time as a community college. The president has helped raised UH ranking significantly from being unranked to 184 in the nation. We are also Tier 1 now and that's just the beginning.

Housing - college is whatever you make of it. Yes, there is a significant portion that commutes but they plan on making it more residential by building more dorms accommodating a total of 11,000 students which is a little more than a quarter of the students. Plenty of students live near the University, too. There are plenty of nice apartments to choose from such as the medical center and midtown.

Campuses Life-There are plenty of frats, sororities, and clubs to get involved in. How many schools can you name that have a bar on campus? How many have bowling allies that stay open quite late? How many schools can you name have an art museum on campus? The point is: you can't complain that there is nothing to do on campus. There is plenty to do. You just have to make the effort.

Student Body: This is the only place in the south where every ethnicity gets along. I've never heard of or seen discrimination during my stay at UH. There are also plenty of good looking women from every background to choose from.

Athletics: The school will build a new football stadium and move to the Big east which means more publicity.

Campus: There are new and old buildings. Every building has new technology. The campus is growing day by day. The UH administration is working diligently to improve the overall quality of the university. We are just getting started. The school is now ranked Tier 1. Plenty of research and programs are being added to the school. UH is changing.

Employment-There are several job and intern opportunities since UH located is located in the heart of Houston which is booming economically.

BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE OVERCHARGED ON YOUR CREDIT CARD! This hotel will give you your bill upon check out for one amount and BILLYOUR CREDIT CARD UP TO $45.00 DOLLARS EXTRA PER DAY FOR "INCIDENTALS". When I returned home after my trip, I noted the overcharge. I called immediately and was put through to Corporate. They stated that this was a charge to cover "JUST" in case you had any additional charges that you might have occurred while on your stay. I told them that their computer system is sophisticated enough to immediately put through any room charges and since I did not have any additional charges that this was a bait and switch ploy to scam unsuspecting patrons that had stayed at their hotel. THE FACT THAT THEY ARE CHARGING THIS FEE AFTER THE PATRON HAS ALREADY RECEIVED THE PRINTED OUT BILL AND AFTER THEY HAVE CHECKED OUT, SPEAKS VOLUMES. They did not discuss this charge with me prior, during, nor when I checked out. The hotel has found a way to charge unsuspecting customers fees that are not refunding unless you catch it. If you do catch it then you have to go through a 3-10 wait period until THEY DETERMINE IF IT IS TO BE REFUNDED. I was told if I contacted the hotel direct that the manager could correct it but The Manager of Sales is LINDA HILL. She has not returned my call regarding this matter even though I was told by the Hotel Clerk the manager would call me immediately the next day. Please note that the hotel is closing down from Christmas Eve until January 12 so it will be actually longer than 3-10 days since they will be on HOLIDAY BREAK. THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF ALL THE ILL WILL THAT THIS CREATES WITH FAMILIES COMING IN FOR GRADUATIONS, GAMES ETC. IF THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON IS USING THE HILTON AS AN AVENUE FOR THEIR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR THEIR STUDENTS. THEY MIGHT WANT TO RETHINK WHETHER THIS HOTEL SHOULD REALLY BE USED AS THE ROLE MODEL FOR THE STUDENTS WHO ARE OBTAINING THEIR HOTEL/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT DEGREES. ETHICS IN BUSINESS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF ANY...
