Been going here for about an year now and overall I'm glad I gave Planet Fitness a shot despite many bodybuilders and fitness people making fun of them. This is a beginner gym centered around cardio and weight machines, keep that in mind: machines. If you're looking to lose weight, I've been to several gyms and none are better equipped than Planet Fitness for that. There is a treadmill or cardio machine for every parking spot outside. The weight machine offer you a solid selection from cable machines, shoulder press, leg press, ab machines, assisted pull ups, chest press, back rows, the list goes on. The nice thing about the weight machines is there are duplicates of most, for example there are 3 preacher curl machines, which is nice because I hardly ever have to wait (đ) on equipment. The gym is overall very clean and well taken care of despite being located on the cusp of a shady part of town. The complaints that come in are the parking situation at peak times can be creative at best. At this location, you have a better chance waiting for parking than you do waiting for equipment. The other downsides are if you want to bench, squat or deadlift, you aren't gonna be able to do that here. They have no real benches/squat racks, just Smith machines instead. If you've ever used a real bench/squat rack, then tried a Smith machine, you'll know this is a major downside. Right now as I'm centered more around losing weight than gaining real muscle, I'm fine with just avoiding them for now until I graduate to a gym more focused around lifting instead of weight loss. The other con is it seems like this is the only gym that doesn't have a sauna when all their other competitors do. I guess the trade off is the Black Card spa, which I could touch on I suppose. The Black Card spa is open for Black Card members only as the name applies, and honestly the Black Card membership is worth it in my opinion. The spa contains traditional massage chairs, hydro massages (my personal favorite), tanning beds and some type of skin retractable light treatment or something, I don't remember the name of it. Still, as much as I'd like a sauna, the hydro massages are great. Overall if you're looking for a clean gym to lose weight in, this is a great choice for the money. If you're trying to look like Arnold, you'll need to go...
Read more8/4/25 | Unsafe Experience - No Action Taken by Staff. BE CAREFUL COMING HERE AFTER 7:30PM!!!
Iâve never felt so unsafe and threatened for my life at a gym. A man followed me and my friend around the gym after we told him we werenât interested. I told him I had a husband, and he still approached with weights in his hands in an aggressive manner while we pasted away out of fear.
We went to the front desk for help and told the employee we were being harassed. Not only did she refuse to call 911 and tell me she wasnât going to do that. When we asked-she actually let the man come behind the counter, saying âhe just wanted to get his point across.â
How is this okay? We felt completely unsupported, unsafe, and disrespected. No woman should have to feel like they might get hurt at the gym and be told âyou can call the police yourselfâ when asking for help. None the less feel like they need to carry inside of a gym!!!
If you value safety, I recommend avoiding this location until they train their staff on basic security and harassment protocol.
Not only that the male staff on duty during this pm shift told the guy to have a great day. After the harassment situation and police were called. As other male customers had to stand around and tell the creep to move away!!!! AND HE WOULDâNT. THE STAFF DID NOTHING BUT NEGLECT TO CALL FOR HELP AND LOOK AT US AS IF WE WERE ATTACKING HER. You would think they would at least tell him to leave after seeing the situation. PURE NEGLIGENCE AND DISREGARD FOR OUR SAFETY.
If I would have acted a fool and knocked off everything from the shelves I wonder how long it would have taken for them to take action...
Read moreWent here for a couple years no issues whatsoever then I wanted to cancel and the staff were concealing the fact that I am free to cancel whenever I want no matter the circumstances and made me feel incapable of canceling unless I paid my account square. My account was -300 dollars but I thought I would auto cancel when I missed one month. Would have paid the month and any late fee to resume my membership but when I learned they continually charged my account (with no email or indication either), I was disinterested and thought it was WILD that they would think I actually owed them that. LOL. They were charging me for like a year without me knowing and I wasn't using the gym at all (obviously). So when I first told them forget it I want to cancel they told me once on the phone and even in person that they cannot cancel. Turns out that was a lie and the staff manager wanted me to square the debt and remain a member. It literally felt like extortion. Realllllllly bad on the staff part. Like really bad. Misleading a customer into believing they can not cancel their membership. They would have me believe my account would be continually charged into infinity unless I squared up (WOW). Is this the Planet Fitness I signed up for? Anyways, this happened about a year ago and I spent a long time originally writing a review but decided not to and send an email to the support planet fitness email. They never responded or even acknowledged my email. A year later, I'm still in disbelief that this ever occurred, and feel leaving a review is...
