This is a very big and nice beach. The water was clean and clear, a greenish turquoise color, almost carribean-like, but I guess that may depend on the time of year that you go. Awesome place to take a walk!
Also, during the off-season, parking seems to be free as far as I can tell.
It's a great place to take a walk, and people generally seem pretty respectful about their pets running around which is only allowed during the off-season (October - May I think). Although I did have a lady who had her dog run up to me and put its feet on me. I love dogs, so I was cool with it, but if you're not a dog lover, why can't people just be respectful and keep their animals under control??
They also have restrooms near the beach. As most folks in the area know, it can be sometimes hard to find a public restroom at beaches in Massachusetts.
The only downside, is that there really are not any good restaurants in the area, do if you are hungry or want something to...
Read moreThis is my second time to this beach while visiting Boston and I love it here. It’s very different from the Jersey beaches where I live in that the waves are so much more calm and you can walk out really far and still only be waist-deep. The water was cold today, but so refreshing. The water and beach are really clean - there’s lots of parking but it seems to fill fast. I didn’t get here until after 4pm and I was able to find a spot after driving around for a few minutes. The beach goers are a racially diverse crowd which I appreciate. I also like that while there are many families, you can find space where little kids aren’t running all over you. I forgot to bring towels so me and my two teenagers sat on the rocks which seem like they were out there for...
Read moreThe boardwalk has evolved a long way from its heyday of Paragon Park. Many of the storefronts by the beach are vacant, but the pillars of beach commerce are still there: pizza, fried seafood, ice cream, towels, shirts and knick-knacks. There's still a mini-golf place and a carousel. The beach itself is fantastic for body surfing - even on the calmest of days there are waves. Be warned that at high tide, there isn't much of a beach. At low tide, the beach is long and pleasant. Great for kids. There are two public bathroom facilities near the beach, including an outdoor shower for getting the salt off. Parking can fill up later in the day, so arrive early. Don't try to park in the residential areas - you'll...
