Steamboat Wharf Marina — Attraction in Hull

When I learned that my 21 year old Mercury outboard was on its last legs at the start of boat season I engaged local dealers for Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki. Outboard motors have been incredibly difficult to get in a reasonable timeframe (1+ years from order in many cases) but after doing my homework and feeling good about Suzuki I placed an order with Steamboat Wharf Marina in Hull.

Joe could not have been more accommodating, knowledgeable, personable and communicative from Day 1. He was honest in setting an expectation that the motor may likely not come in before the end of the season and to think of the repower as a winter project. He called me as soon as he learned that they may be able to get one motor through their allocation and 2 months later the motor arrived from Japan.

Chad handled the re-power, including removing my old motor and oil tank. He installed the new Suzuki along with a multifunction gauge, digital throttle and shift and a NMEA setup to interface with my GPS. He also called me when installing the gauge to offer options and recommendations for a panel that would look clean as I previously had two holes. Chad was a consummate professional (who has the same motor) and I'm incredibly pleased and grateful for all of the high quality work he did. Before reinstalling my hydraulic steering he also cleaned it up and that made a world of difference in how the boat handles as my transom design prevented removal of the support rod to clean without taking off the motor.

If you're considering re-powering, I'd highly recommend these new Suzuki outboards. You would do yourself a disservice to not at least stop by Steamboat Wharf Marina for yourself and talk to the guys. I'd have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them and plan on being back for my initial...

This marina is plagued with unprofessional staff. My boat was vandalized 3 times with their security system. I had my outriggers misplaced, my $200 electrical cord stolen and a fishing rod taken off my boat. I slipped and fell and needed an ambulance to pick me up after falling down their dock. when I mentioned it to the owner he said "funny I didn't see the ambulance on security cam as I stood in front of him with stitches on my forehead. I hadn't been receiving emails or updates and found out the marina was using an older email. When I asked to update the email the office manager Mike was outraged and was very unprofessional and rude. Lastly without cause they terminated my slip contract with no reason as I have never broken anything in there 5 page legal contract. A group of poorly run staff members, outrageous prices and the worst customer service I have ever experienced on the water in 25 years. Don’t let these guys ruin your boating experience. I needed to take on fresh water and they wouldn’t offer the service. I was willing to pay for the tie up and what they would want for water, but wasn’t given the option. This resulted in us having to leave worlds end right before the weekend started.
