It's such a timeless favorite for children. Parents know that this visit will be a fun family activity for up to an hour or two. As you get older, though, you realize it's an historic marker and we're so lucky that a generation ago a group of people banded together to save the carousel for future generations.

Classic wooden carousel. The kids LOVE it. For my kids no trip to Nantasket Beach would be complete without a ride on the carousel. It's $3 a pop, but the ride duration is good. This is a restored vintage carousel and I love looking at it. Under cover, this is a very good high tide time activity.

I was so happy to bring my 3 year old daughter here. What a beautiful carousel! It's amazing to see part of history in action. They don't make them like they used to. We went on my birthday, and the attendant Amy played Happy Birthday for me. It was so special

Never crowded, this is a sweet and inexpensive classic attraction for a little joy next to the beach on the "public end" and also near the beach-side playground and the arcade. There has been an effort toward full restoration, but the condition of the carousel is still wanting. I also wish the tea cup outside the carousel -- a remaining piece from Paragon Park, I think -- actually could spin when you turn the wheel. (I know there are town politics about management of resources, but I also know there are a lot of folks who treasure the carousel and the history it represents.) The carousel ride is worth the money, but unfortunately it runs long enough that kids' smiles turn to mild panic and a look of "when is this gonna stop?" The folks running the carousel are not particularly friendly or enthusiastic with the children, but they do seem to believe the carousel's presence in town is important. Worth a stop-by for a few minutes if you have little ones and have been spending a day on the beach or have older kids playing...

After a major fire at Paragon Park in Hull, a new large, elaborate carousel, PTC #85, was installed in 1928.

It was the 85th out of 89 carousels created by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, renowned maker of hand-carved carousels in the Philadelphia, or realistic, style. (Toboggan meant roller coaster) PTC #85 included two rare Roman Chariots, each pulled by two horses, carved by the Dentzel Company, founder of the Philadelphia style, and purchased when the last of the Dentzels died. Its scalloped canopy was one of the most beautiful ever constructed for carousel.

The fabled Paragon Park with its sweeping roller coaster is long gone, but preservation efforts are underway to restore this grand carousel with its Wurlitzer Band Organ, Bell Tower,...

Time stands still here. Modern technology is not needed. Real authentic restored German Carousel. I take my kids there and watch parents tugging phones from their children's hands. The kids protest.....then in a moment their attitudes change and the smiles are from ear to ear..yelling..laughing. I never ever see that with kids on their phones..never. Affordable clean old fashioned family fun. Use the phones to take pics..then put em back in ur back pocket...where they don't become a distraction.. Then walk 10 feet for an ice cream.. salted caramel is the best... follow these simple instructions and comment back...you will see Life Is Good...slow it down..these devices are...
