It has been 4 years since I have been here. I only have 1 pup then and have 2 now. I parked 2 parking lots north of this park, because the first lot was full when I got here. There were several large group gatherings. From the 2nd parking lot, the walk to the end if the boardwalk is about 2.4 miles. The bike path, walking South, will take you to the trail with a slight left to hop on to the trail. The view of the water and boats made the hike even more beautiful and enjoyable. I look forward to getting on the boardwalk where the amazing view of the marshland and water. There might be poison ivy along the trail, because and staying on the trail is best. This trail is very dogfriendly. I have a feisty little one toward other dogs, and everyone I encountered were so nice. It's such a nice e doze of natural medicine from all the nice people, bring my spirit up... something I needed given how this country took another bad turn to darkness with mandatory vaccinations for schools, hospitals, small/mediym/large companies, military, federal employees and contractor...take the...

My husband and I love coming here. Gorgeous view of the Potomac River and the Wilson Bridge at this location. He likes to run on the trail, while I lay down on my blanket in the grass and relax. Plenty of tables and benches here too, for picnics. Also, they have bathrooms - not the cleanest, but hey, at least they have them! They also have trashcans around the parking lot, which I appreciate a lot! I love that there's all these big, old trees providing plenty of shade, especially when it is so hot this time of summer!!! I find it peaceful and relaxing here. This park makes for a nice escape from the city, while also incorporating that beautiful cityscape just across the water into a beautiful backdrop for a...

Belle Haven Park is a gem among the rigors of life in & near our nations capital. Like a gem, this park’s beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Some will look out their car window and barely give the view a second thought. The lucky ones will pull off The Parkway and enjoy the view of the Potomac, the proximity of the marina, the walkways, the bike paths, the majestic old growth trees, and relax. Parking is limited. There is a cement building with restrooms. The picnic benches, like the parking is limited. What isn’t limited is the gorgeous river, the smell of fresh air, the birds (some migratory birds pass through here) and the feeling that being in nature brings to one’s soul. Belle Haven Park is all...

When we lived in Alexandria, my husband and I exercised here every morning. We'd walk from Belle Haven to Maryland on the Wilson Bridge. It's awesome, esp in the summer when the sun is shining so bright. I used to pretend I was in San Francisco. We'd go get breakfast at Le Madeline in Old Town or lunch at District Taco close by sometimes. Sometimes we'd go to Whole foods or eat at Table Talk off Duke St. Those were the days. I grew up in Mt Vernon area so the GW Parkway from Mt Vernon to DC is near and dear to my heart and it's my soul. Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory! Idk why I moved to Central PA. Looking to return to Virginia.

Belle Haven Park is a must-visit for birdwatchers—especially if you’re hoping to spot a bald eagle. That was the main reason for our visit, and we were thrilled to actually see one in the wild! Watching a bald eagle soar above the treetops was an unforgettable experience. The park also features a beautiful riverside trail, great for hiking and biking, and is full of wildlife. The only downside is its proximity to the George Washington Parkway—so while it’s scenic and peaceful in nature, the sound of traffic is a constant background presence. Still, for the chance to see bald eagles and enjoy a nature walk, it’s absolutely worth it.
