It has been 4 years since I have been here. I only have 1 pup then and have 2 now. I parked 2 parking lots north of this park, because the first lot was full when I got here. There were several large group gatherings. From the 2nd parking lot, the walk to the end if the boardwalk is about 2.4 miles. The bike path, walking South, will take you to the trail with a slight left to hop on to the trail. The view of the water and boats made the hike even more beautiful and enjoyable. I look forward to getting on the boardwalk where the amazing view of the marshland and water. There might be poison ivy along the trail, because and staying on the trail is best. This trail is very dogfriendly. I have a feisty little one toward other dogs, and everyone I encountered were so nice. He likes to run on the trail, while I lay down on my blanket in the grass and relax. Plenty of tables and benches here too, for picnics. Also, they have bathrooms - not the cleanest, but hey, at least they have them! They also have trashcans around the parking lot, which I appreciate a lot! I love that there's all these big, old trees providing plenty of shade, especially when it is so hot this time of summer!!! I find it peaceful and relaxing here. This park makes for a nice escape from the city, while also incorporating that beautiful cityscape just across the water into a beautiful backdrop for a...

Some will look out their car window and barely give the view a second thought. The lucky ones will pull off The Parkway and enjoy the view of the Potomac, the proximity of the marina, the walkways, the bike paths, the majestic old growth trees, and relax. Parking is limited. There is a cement building with restrooms. The picnic benches, like the parking is limited. What isn’t limited is the gorgeous river, the smell of fresh air, the birds (some migratory birds pass through here) and the feeling that being in nature brings to one’s soul. Belle Haven Park is all...
