BEWARE of this place if you have any sort of decent expectation for a place to stay while away from home. ||Let’s start off with the first 20 minutes at this place. Front desk rambled on and on about a choice member issue (which I am) and made it so confusing, it took longer than it should to even check in, in the first place. Get to the room and see a text from my bank, my card was authorized twice which put an extra hold on my card for over $400. Front desk not very helpful and proceeded to blame the manager who obviously wasn’t there because it was a Saturday evening and said they have known about this issue happening and have done nothing to fix. Either way.. $400 less in my account until sometime a week later when the pending charge is released while out of town going to cedar point for my son’s bday. Thankfully I was able to figure that out but that could have ended our trip right there. ||Second.. this place is extremely run down and dirty. You can see the pics but let’s start with the pool. Door busted, screen falling out of the window, literal dirt and kid caked in the grout. Door from the pool to the back deck where you could sit and look at the river.. locked because half the railings are broken. The room itself also had plenty of issues, bathroom had a small hole in the ceiling where it appeared they had a leak at some point and did a poor job of repairing. Bathtub spout broken, leather chair cracking and scratched, lamp on the desk flickered and then just turned off and shade not connected. The outlets in the lamp on the nightstand were so loose it wouldn’t hold a phone charger to charge phones. Tv remote back missing and batteries literally taped in. Curtains were dirty, beds were small (doubles is what they advertise.. this felt like a full). Linens were trash. Paid $10 extra for a river view room and definitely wasn’t worth it. To top it off, if you’re a light sleeper or even if you’re not and just want to get a good nights rest, don’t even think about booking here. There’s train tracks on the other side of the marina that has trains blowing their horn all hours. To no fault of the hotel but don’t stay on the first floor near pool. Room 111 and up. It’s near an outside exit door and people coming and going all night long slamming the door and typical first floor problems of upstairs neighbors doing upstairs neighbors activities aka stomping on the floor all night. Walls are so thin you can literally hear when anyone around you turns on the sink or shower and hear the water flowing through the pipes. Also, if you come on a weekend, this is a busy area with restaurants and things and the marina area next door has events and fill up all the hotel parking for guests so nowhere to park on top of everything else. |||This entire hotel stay really put a damper on our son’s bday trip to cedar point. I would never stay here again and probably won’t stay at another comfort inn anywhere ever again for that matter. There’s so many options if you’re visiting the park, this is absolutely NOT worth...
Read moreThis is the 4th time that we have stayed at River's Edge. It is a great location on the Huron River and within two blocks of family that we visit on each stay. This time we booked a king river view room and after checking in and going to our room, I discovered that we were in a double bed room. Went back to the desk to let the gal know and she was very rude..said that that is what we booked and there was nothing in the system to indicate that anything had been changed. Told her I was very disappointed. She said they had a very large wedding party and nothing could be done. When she put the king into her system it told her it was not available. Then when I tried to use the safe in the room it would not lock. A very nice associate came to the room and tried to fix it, but could not. I do not like to drag my handbag with me everywhere I go, but this time I did not have that convenience. They told me that they would deduct $10 off my bill for it! Not much of an accommodation. It was just my luck that this time I did not bring my original booking confirmation along with me that indicated that I booked a king, just the reminder that we had a stay booked on Sept 18th and 19th. When we checked out there was an $8 charge on our bill that the gal at the desk did not know what it was for. It was 6:30 am and she had no one to ask. It eventually was deducted from our bill. When I got home and had the confirmation in front of me, I called to speak with the manager and was told that she was not at River View, she also manages the Comfort Inn in Sandusky. I called the Sandusky location and the person who answered said that she was not there and insisted that I tell her what I wanted. I asked when she would be there and was told she was on vacation and they did not know when she would be back. I then sent a copy of the confirmation for the king room along with a letter detailing how the gal at River's Edge handled it. That letter was sent from PA to OH on 9/23/2015. It is now October 23rd and I have not heard any thing from her. No email, phone call or letter. This hotel is reasonably clean, very convenient for our purposes and reasonably priced. Do not know anything about the breakfast buffet because we have never taken advantage of it. If customer care is at all important to you, you might want to avoid this location. Obviously, we will be thinking very hard if we want to ever stay at this location again. My daughter had a similar experience with customer care during her week long stay in...
Read moreEverything was amazing from the time we checked in, on a Tuesday evening to the time we checked out on Friday. Everyone was absolutely great! Joshua, helped us with a later check-in, and provided us with some extra towels upon request. Kathy, was able program a new remote to our TV, without any hesitation. Peter was exceptional just to talk with. And Amy, was able to accommodate some of our other needs.
Due to our short time frame, and other activities we did not have a chance to use the pool. I’m sure it would’ve been amazing. The breakfast was very good each and every day. There was a great variety of items to choose from each day. It was definitely great to be able to eat breakfast at the hotel each morning, to avoid paying for another meal.
Overnight, on our first night, our fridge stopped working. By the time we returned from the park, the following evening, we had a new fridge in our room, and our drinks were ice cold. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly kind. Everyone was welcoming, making our stay more than just pleasant. It was exceptional.
My wife and I are from Pittsburgh, PA. The reason for our trip to go to Cedar Point for a couple days. We wanted to stay close to the park, but not have to pay for the convenience of being right there. There is also a small bar/restaurant next-door to the hotel. It is just steps away from the back patio at the hotel. The food was phenomenal! Ella was our server. She was also phenomenal.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Huron, or the surrounding area! It is a bonus that this hotel is located just 10 miles away from Cedar Point. Everything about our stay was absolutely amazing! I think the teamwork, from everyone, made this trip extra special. We look forward to staying at this hotel again next year, as we hope to make our Cedar Point trip an annual event. THANK YOU Comfort Inn,...
