One of my very favorite things to do is visit Shrines throughout the country. Whenever I travel, I research to find where Shrines are located in the vicinity of where I am. I first visited this lovely National Shrine of St Jude back in April on a very cold, wet and rainy evening. As soon as I walked up the stairs and into the church, I saw the most beautiful statue of Saint Jude illuminated to the right beside the altar. I knew that I had to return eventually, just to sit in the warmth, the peace and the comfort of this Shrine that you will experience immediately upon entering this church. Though I have prayed to St Jude for a very long time, there is something extra special about praying there. You will love the co-directors Frs Agustin and Byron. They take the time to greet you personally. Fr Byron has trained many young people who have become assets to this community as well. The altar servers actually come down among the congregation to give the Sign of Peace. You may even be able to meet Fr Paul, the Claretian Provincial, who also gives phenomenal homelies of worth and meaning. So please visit and attend Mass if you are in South Chicago. You will feel blessed from the moment you open the doors, and the statue’s golden aura will surround you even after you leave, not to mention the beauty emanating from the immense portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe behind the altar. With certainty you will know your prayers are heard, and that words are completely unnecessary in a...

Read moreI was trying to have a baby and went thru several miscarriages from 2005 thru 2007. St. Jude is my patron Saint so I decided to visit the shrine in person. At the time I was living in Texas but my sister in law lived in Chicago so I visited her with the plan to visit the church. The church is beautiful and you immediately feel a sense of comforting warmth. I prayed to St Jude, purchased a St Jude medallion, had it blessed and shortly after I got pregnant. Whether it was divine intervention or just a coincidence, it was my only pregnancy that reached term. I was blessed with a boy who is now 13. And I thank God and St. Jude for...
